State power Seven Lakes (Katy) is the host and organizer.

Seven Lakes senior guard Atif
Russell recently committed to
Pepperdine.

"We are very excited to partner with Nike and try to put on one of the best tournaments in Texas," Seven Lakes head coach Dan Miller said. "We are happy to have some great boys and girls teams in the field this year with a lot of fantastic basketball talent."

Miller's Spartans are among the headliners on the boys' side. Seven Lakes is ranked No. 5 in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 5A preseason rankings. Fellow participant Klein Forest (Houston) is ranked No. 23 on the same list.

"We think that the teams that win this tournament will be the type of team that can compete with anybody in the region and state of Texas," Miller said. "We would like to our grow our tournament and hope to bring in some out-of-state teams in the future."

Previously known as the Katy Classic, the Seven Lakes boys and North Shore girls took top honors last season. For more information on the event, visit www.spartanhoops.org.
