Tennessee recruit Jalen Hurd will miss the rest of the season due to a shoulder injury.

The season is over less than a week after it began for Beech (Hendersonville, Tenn.) senior Jalen Hurd.

The Tennessee-bound running back, who was a contender to take home MaxPreps National Player of the Year honors, is set to have season-ending shoulder surgery.

Hurd injured his shoulder in Sunday's nationally televised game against Station Camp. He later returned to the game. However, according to multiple reports, Hurd has a tear in his labrum and will undergo surgery that will keep him out until January.

As a junior, Hurd rushed for 3,357 yards and 43 touchdowns. In March, he committed to Tennessee and remains the crown jewel of the Vols' 2014 recruiting class.
