Daniel McMillian first 2013 recruit to commit to Florida

Let the 2013 verbal commitments begin.

First Coast (Jacksonville, Fla.) junior linebacker Daniel McMillian waited for his teammates to enjoy the limelight on National Signing Day before announcing his pledge to Florida for the fall of 2013 on Thursday.

Five First Coast players inked national letters Wednesday, including linebacker Reggie Northrup, who had flipped from Miami to Florida State.

McMillan, a 6-foot-3, 220-pounder told Jacksonville.com he's been holding in his pick for a long time. He had 12 sacks and nine forced fumbles – a real hitter – last season.

First Coast finished 13-1 last season and made the state 7A title game.

"It's been real tough," he said. "I wanted people to know."

And now they do.
