Senior quarterback Deryk Kern accounted for nine touchdowns as Westminster (Md.) demolished Sherwood (Md.) 62-28 on Friday to win the Class 4A north region championship.

Kern completed 13 of 19 passes for 308 yards and six touchdowns. That gave him a state-record 60 touchdown passes this year, surpassing the previous record of 56 by Billy Cosh in 2008. He also ran for three touchdowns.

Kern told the Baltimore Sun, "It was an amazing feeling, just the atmosphere with all my friends coming up and congratulating me and we just know that we're not even close to finishing this and I'm just going to use this as motivation for the rest of the season."
