National basketball recruit D'Angelo Russell committed to Ohio State University on Friday, according to 247 Sports.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound rising senior is ranked as the No. 4 shooting guard and No. 20 overall player in the country in the Class of 2014 by 247 Sports. He helped Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) to a 27-2 record and the National High School Invitational championship earlier this year.

Russell revealed that Louisville (his hometown) and Michigan State were his next choices. He also had offers from such colleges as Arizona, Cincinnati, Indiana, Memphis, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

The five-star standout explained why he chose the Buckeyes: "Just from all of the other schools, I didn't feel like any other school was recruiting me as hard as they were."
