Covering High School Sports in America
Russell Brands LLC, a leader in the sporting goods industry, announced this week that Williamsport High School (Md.) has received the second annual "Fight Like Dylan Award." The school will receive a $50,000 grant for athletic uniforms and equipment.

Russell established the award in 2011 to honor Dylan Rebeor, a terminally-ill player whose last wish was for his teammates to receive new uniforms. Rebeor was a wide receiver on the Columbia Central (Tenn.) football team and died of cancer on Dec. 3, 2010, just hours before his team won its first state title in 58 years.

Williamsport lost standout senior athletes Samantha Kelly and Brendon Colliflower due to an automobile accident in May of 2012 on their way home from the school prom. Kelly played tennis and volleyball, while Colliflower was a baseball standout. The memory of those two honor students sparked both the baseball and volleyball teams to Class 2A state championships.

Russell Brands LLC executive vice president Gary Barfield said, "We had an overwhelming response to our call for submissions (this year). It was a tremendously difficult decision for our panel of judges, but just like Dylan's story the Williamsport story moved us beyond words."
