The 6-foot-4, 275-pound defensive tackle from
Buhach Colony (Atwater, Calif.) picked the Cardinal over Cal, USC and UCLA.
Many thought Cal was in the lead for Shittu's recruitment until its top recruiter Tosh Lupoi left for Washington on Jan. 16.
That likely helped to sway Shittu, who had more than 20 offers.
Shittu has remarkable upside, according to most scouts, and he possess quick feet, enormous strength, a big brain and large vivacious personality.
He embraced the recruiting process, according to his coaches and friends.
Shittu's announcement came less than an hour after San Clemente lineman Kyle Murphy, the nation's No. 58 recruit, committed to the Cardinal. Shittu is the sixth Top 100 recruit snagged by Stanford today.
