North Salinas (Salinas, Calif.)
might not be considered the beach volleyball capital of California, but it will welcome one of the sport's biggest names on Aug. 25.
Three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings will be on hand to help the school dedicate a new beach volleyball court.
As reported by The Californian
, the court is being donated by the Good Tidings Foundation as part of its efforts to build youth athletic facilities in Northern California. The public is welcome to attend the 11 a.m. PST dedication, and the court will be officially christened for play after the ceremony.
The court cost $65,000, according to the report, and it will use sand from Olympic courts. The school will use the court for gym classes and plans to hold tournaments during the summer.
