Covering High School Sports in America
Stephen Kelly stands alone, so to speak.

The Calvert Hall (Baltimore) lacrosse standout, who just completed his junior year, was the only high school player selected to the Under-19 U.S. National Men's Lacrosse Team. The U.S. team will compete in Finland at the 2012 Federation of International Lacrosse World Championships later this month.

As reported by The Baltimore Sun, Kelly outlasted more than 120 other hopefuls to earn one of the 23 roster spots. A midfielder, Kelly helped the Cardinals to the No. 2 ranking nationally in the final MaxPreps Xcellent 25 National Rankings.

"Playing against these guys and coming back for my senior year, it's going to be 'Wow!' because this has helped me get so much better," Kelly told the newspaper. "It's just a different speed than the high school level and I'm excited because it's going to improve my game."
