banked in a half-court shot at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime.
The miracle shot would have broken the spirits of some teams, but Damien (La Verne)
would not be denied at home. Trailing 72-71 with 2.4 seconds left in overtime, sophomore Jeremy Hemsley
came to the rescue with a game-winning three-pointer, giving the Spartans a 74-72 win.
Hemsley finished with 31 points, seven assists and six rebounds, and Damien advances to play Chaminade (West Hills) on Saturday.
