Peter Jinkens had reason to flip: He signed with Texas.

Skyline (Dallas) receiver Thomas Johnson and linebacker Peter Jinkens, a pair of the nation's top recruits, say they are like brothers. But when Johnson, the nation's No. 8 prospect at wide receiver, decided to sign with Texas A&M instead of Texas, Jinkens wasn't swayed.

Jinkens, the nation's No. 16 prospect at outside linebacker, stayed true to his commitment to the Longhorns.

Although he'd like to play with Johnson, Jinkens said, the native Texan knew where he was going.

"Since I was like 6 years old," he said, "It's always been my No. 1 school."

Jinkens (6-1, 205) made 125 tackles last season, had nine sacks, forced three fumbles and recovered two fumbles. He also spent time at running back for Skyline, which finished 14-1.
