Junior quarterback Will Grier
is using his short passing game as an effective substitute for a running game at Davidson Day (N.C.)
The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder completed passes to eight different receivers Friday night while leading the Patriots to a 53-21 victory over Parkwood (Monroe, N.C.). He finished with a near-perfect 30-for-34 night with 505 yards and eight touchdowns. He threw one interception.
Through a 4-1 campaign he has completed 138 of 173 passes for 2,119 yards and 24 touchdowns, with three interceptions.
His father/coach, Chad Grier, told MaxPreps, "He did a nice job managing our tempo. We wanted to play fast. I've seen him mature a lot. He's a lot better with poise and patience in the pocket. I'm really proud of his development and maturity. It's not just Will flinging the ball around. He's got some great talent (surrounding him)."
Senior Jordan Young
caught 10 passes for 148 yards and one touchdown. Senior Aaron Seward
and junior Jordan Brown
each had three touchdown catches.
