Mike Alstott

As reported by the Tampa Bay Tribune (www.tbo.com), Mike Alstott was to be introduced Wednesday as the head coach at Northside Christian (St. Petersburg, Fla.).

Alstott was named to six Pro Bowls as a fullback in his 12-year career, all with the Bucs, and he tallied 71 touchdowns. He is second all-time in rushing yards in franchise history as well, and helped lead the team to the Super Bowl XXXVII title.

He was a volunteer assistant last season at St. Petersburg Catholic but this will be his first head coaching gig.

Alstott will be tasked with turning around a program that finished 1-9 last season and has gone 14-27 over the past four seasons. See photos of Alstott meeting some of his players, also from the Tribune.

The Tribune also reports that Northside Christian's first game will be against Shorecrest Preparatory School, which is coached by another former Buccaneer, Dave Moore. Moore and Alstott are reported to co-own a restaurant together in the Tampa Bay area.
