For shock value, let's call this the fastest hat trick in the history of high school soccer.
We definitely don't know if anybody has accomplished scoring three goals in less than 91 seconds in a high school soccer match. So for now we're going to give the award to Wichita Falls (Texas)
senior Daniel Tays
for fastest hat trick.
The spectacular feat occurred in a Jan. 25 game at the Wichita Falls Winter Cup Tournament, according to coach Patrick McCauley, who tipped MaxPreps off. It was 1-0 Wichita Falls against Frenship (Wolfforth, Texas) in the final two minutes when Tays took over and knocked in his three goals, the final one coming around the final second.
He also scored a hat trick in the previous game against Monterey (Lubbock, Texas) the previous day.
"We pressed them and
created chances the whole game, but the last couple of minutes I found
myself in good scoring positions and made sure I finished my chances on
goal. Adrian Alvarez
assisted me on all three goals, so I feel like he
deserves some credit as well," Tays told MaxPreps.
"I've never seen anything like it before, and probably won't ever again," McCauley said. "Back-to-back hat tricks are rare, but the fact that one of those
hat tricks took only 91 seconds is just insane. This is one of those
moments in sports that you're fortunate you were there to witness, and it's
definitely something I'll never forget."
