Douglas County outfielder Jordan Leinweber was selected to participate in the Futures Game, sponsored by the Colorado Rockies, after batting .521 with eight homers and 35 RBI this past season. The game is June 3 at Coors Field.

With the high school baseball season coming to a close this weekend, all-star games and summer showcases soon will take their spot in the rotation.

Sixty of Colorado's top players recently were chosen to play in two different highlight events in the next couple of weeks.

First up is the annual all-star game sponsored by the Colorado Rockies. Originally dubbed the Top 40 game, which then became the Top 50 seniors in the state, the now Futures Game pits 20 of the state's top seniors against 20-plus promising underclassmen, as selected by local scouts and Rockies personnel.

The game will be played June 3 following the Rockies game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, which is scheduled for a 1:10 pm start.
