According to
The Florida Times-Union,
Solomon Poole – one of the Sunshine State's top junior basketball players and a Top 100 national prospect – has been suspended for the remainder of the season by the Florida High School Athletic Association.
Poole, a 6-foot-1 guard at
Parker (Jacksonville) rated No. 24 in the MaxPreps Class of 2013 Top 100, was ejected during a 59-51 loss at Bishop Kenny last Friday. It was the second time he has been tossed this season, enacting Regulation 30.3.1.2 of the FHSAA Handbook stating;
"A coach or other representative of the school's athletic interests who receives a second Level 1 Suspension or commits an unsportmanslike act ... will be ineligible to coach or attend any interscholastic athletic contest in any sport, at any level, for a period of up to six weeks."
According to The Florida Times-Union, Parker head coach Elijah Wells is expected to reach out to the FHSAA in an attempt to mitigate the penalty, though no formal appeal process is available.
Parker is 14-3 this season and No. 4 in the Florida Class 5A Freeman Rankings. Poole was averaging 15.5 points per game this season with a season-high 28 against Rutherford on Jan. 7.
Poole's brother, Stacey, just completed a transfer from Kentucky to Georgia Tech and will be a redshirt sophomore next season.
