Covering High School Sports in America

Philip Lutzenkirchen

It's that time of year again when we here at MaxPreps sort through all the amazing plays from this season. And we have sure seen some good ones. Especially of late.

My favorite so far this season was when Peter Cimino from Boylan High School returned a punt return for a touchdown with no time left on the clock to bring the game within one. The run was not the best ever, but the situation and the fact it was a playoff game, it has to go down as one of the best. Then his team went for two and got the win.

But I still don't think it tops Philip Lutzenkirchen's catch and lateral back in 2008 while he was playing for Lassiter (Marietta, Ga.). The video shows the now senior tight end for Auburn catching the ball in the back of the end zone and in mid-air, before going out of bounds, tossing the ball to his teammate who caught the lateral for the touchdown.

Is this the best play you have ever seen?
