Artie Burns of
Northwestern (Miam) won the 110-meter hurdles (into the wind) with an outstanding time of 13.35 seconds and also captured the 300 hurdles in 36.14. Robin Reynolds of
Jackson (Miami) was a triple winner with firsts in the 400 (53.28), 200 (24.16, 24.02 in the prelims) and long jump (19 feet, 7 1/2 inches).
Arman Hall of
St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) won the 200 and 400 in respective times of 21.12 and 46.66.
American Heritage (Plantation, Fla.) seventh grader Daesha Rogers won the 800 in 2:12.86.
* Several records were broken at the Ohio state indoor championships.
Jacob Blankenship of
Lincoln (Gahanna, Ohio) won the pole vault with a personal-record 17-7 leap. The boys 200 was a thriller with the 1-2 finishers both breaking the meet record. Junior Anthony Young of
St. Edward (Lakewood, Ohio) won in a photo finish with a time of 21.34 seconds. Runner-up Shelton Gibson of
Cleveland Heights (Ohio) was given a time of 21.35.

San Marcos (Texas) cleared 7-1 to win the high jump at the Texas Southern Relays.

Normal (Ill.) standout Brittany Hull won the pole vault at 13-1/4 during the Big 12 Girls Indoor meet in Bloomington, Ill.
* Margaret Drazba of
St. Marys (W. Va.) placed fourth (14:11.7 for the 4-Kilometer) in the Junior Women's division during the eighth-annual NACAC Cross Country Championships in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
