It may not have been equal to Tiger Woods winning the 2008 U.S. Open on a broken leg and torn ACL, or Curt Schilling in the 2004 American League Championship Series. But give La Mirada (Calif.)
senior captain Madison Magill
her due, because she came up clutch for her team Thursday despite an injury.According to the Long Beach Press-Telegram
, Magill sank a pair of free throws with around 40 seconds left to give her team the win despite dislocating her left shoulder when she was fouled. Down 39-38 to Glenn (Norwalk, Calif.), she was fouled hard and went to the line in some pain but calmly drained the game-tying and game-winning shots despite being in pain.
“I just tuned out the crowd,” Magill told the newspaper. “And shot them like I normally would.”
The pain got worse after the game, the blog post said, so coach Darryl Gowens and Magill's father helped pop it back in before heading to the hospital.
“It hurt a lot, but as soon as it was back in it felt a lot better,” Magill was quoted as saying. “It’s just sore now, and If I’m feeling strong enough I’m gonna play tomorrow.”
