With National Signing Day closing in, some notable football commitments, flips and other general banter:
* One of Georgia's top defensive ends,
Sheldon Rankins of
Eastside (Covington, Ga.), committed to Louisville over Wake Forest according to the
Atlanta Journal Constitution. Rankins (6-3, 255) had 26 scholarship offers.
* The
AJC is also reporting that Georgia's top uncommitted prospect,
Henry County (McDonough, Ga.) defensive tackle
Dalvin Tomlinson (6-3, 270) is leaning toward Georgia Tech over Alabama and Georgia.
* The
News & Observer reported that
Broughton (Raleigh, N.C.) linebacker
Drew Davis (6-4, 240) flipped his pick from Minnesota to stay near home to play at North Carolina State. Very near home. "I can just about walk to the stadium," he told the newspaper.

Sunset (Portland, Ore.) defensive lineman
David Fennell (6-3, 275), the son of Canadian Football League hall of famer Dave Fennell, has committed to Michigan State, according to the
Oregonian.
* The
Seattle Times reported that
Bellevue (Bellevue, Wash.) offensive lineman
Jake Eldrenkamp
(6-5, 295) committed to the University of Washington, the third
offensive lineman from the state to pledge their allegiance to the
Huskies.
The state is loaded with blue chip offensive lineman and everyone is still waiting to hear where the two best,
Zach Banner, of
Lakes (Lakewood, Wash.) and
Puyallup's Josh Garnett will land.
Banner (6-8, 295) is ranked the 21st best recruit in the country overall by
MaxPreps.com and Garnett (6-5, 300) is No. 26.
