The IMG Academies (Bradenton, Fla.)
announced this week that football will join its long list of team sport for boys in the fall of 2013. IMG already offers team sports in basketball, baseball and wrestling, among others.
The head coach will be Chris Weinke, who currently is the Director of Football. Weinke was a high school All-American quarterback, won the Heisman Trophy in college and played in the NFL. He is putting together an outstanding staff of assistants.
Weinke said in a press release, "Through our camps, clinics and combines and individual training, I have spent an incredible two years at IMG Academy working with some of the most talented young football players in the nation. I have been looking forward to the day we could announce the formation of a competitive team, and that day is finally here."
IMG rests on a 450-acre campus with 750 students representing 85 countries.
