Defensive lineman Dalvin Tomlison of McDonough (Ga.) Henry County is a 6-foot-3, 270-pound Alabama recruit who plays the trumpet, the snare drum, and carries a 3.9 grade-point average.

You could also say he knows something about wrestling. A lot, actually.

Tomlinson became Georgia's first three-time heavyweight champion on Saturday night, when he pinned Tom Hart of Troup High (LaGrange, Ga.)  in 9 seconds in the Class AAA finals at the Gwinnett Center Arena.

In winning the state's 285-pound division, Tomlinson pinned four consecutive opponents this weekend - another in just 16 seconds - during the four-bout championship round. He completed his senior season at 29-0.

Tomlinson, who was also recruited by Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida, Harvard, and others, was MaxPreps' 15th-ranked defensive tackle this past season; he is likely to play defensive end at Alabama. Tomlinson had 119 tackles, 12 sacks and 28 total tackles behind the line of scrimmage in 2011 for Henry County (8-4).

"(Tomlinson) plays to the whistle, gives great effort, and shows enormous strength," said MaxPreps' recruiting expert Tom Lemming.

"He's able to shed blockers easily and make tackles while on the run. He's competitive and has consistently shown a willingness to hustle and chase ball carriers to the end. He also shows the strength to knock offensive linemen backwards, and has a quick enough burst to apply pressure on the quarterback. He gets to full speed fast and has proven to be a brick wall against the run."
