Texas High School Basketball - Alief Taylor ripped by Strake Jesuit

(March 4, 2009: Houston, TX 77083) The Strake Jesuit Crusaders basketball team scored 67 points and held the host Alief Taylor Lions to 37 in the Crusaders non-league triumph on Wednesday.

The Crusaders now sport a 35-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Elkins for a non-league contest on Friday, March 6. Strake Jesuit will meet a Knights team coming off a 46-45 non-league win over Bush (Richmond, TX). The Knights record now stands at 17-13.

Scoring Summary

First Quarter Summary:: In Regional Quarterfinal action, the Crusaders would once again do a "threepeat" against another district opponent. The Alief Taylor Lions got the 1st possession and the first shot of the game... it would be the last possession they would have to take the lead. The Crusaders would rebound the Lions' miss and convert it to the first lead that they would maintain the entire game.
Second Quarter Summary:: Solid defense and good rebounding, along with the hot shooting of Steven Rogers, helped to build the 21 point halftime lead.
Third Quarter Summary:: The lions would come out in the 2nd half trying to pick up their pace but the Crusaders would quiet their roar and finish a solid game.
