Game Summary
Florida High School Basketball - North Port edges Manatee

(December 16, 2008: North Port, FL 34286) The North Port Bobcats (North Port, FL) basketball nipped the visiting Manatee Hurricanes (Bradenton, FL), 48-42 in Tuesday's league test.

The Bobcats (9-2) will now prepare for their test against Charlotte (Punta Gorda, FL). The Fightin' Tarpons go into the 5A District 12 test with a 1-12 record. In their last test, Charlotte was tipped by Venice (Venice, FL), 67-25, in a league test.

The Hurricanes now own a 2-1 record. They take the field next when they host Southeast for a 5A District 12 test on Wednesday, January 7.
Scoring Summary
First Quarter Summary:
Both teams were tentative to start the ball game. Both teams defenses were especially tough. Manatee's 1-2-2- zone caused the Bobcats some problems and North Port's pressure man caused numerous Manatee turnovers.
Second Quarter Summary:
The Hurricanes pulled ahead by five led by the six footers Taylor Mealy and Courtney McDonald.
Third Quarter Summary:
Vanessa Price, Rheisa Burke and Brittany Konik led a third quarter charge that brought the Bobcats within two.
Fourth Quarter Summary:
The Bobcats were off and running in the fourth quarter, scoring 16 unanswered points to take a commanding 14 point lead with a little less than three minutes remaining. Price had eith and Konik seven in the quarter.
