Florida High School Softball - Sickles holds off Riverview

(March 7, 2009: Riverview, FL 33569) Sickles Gryphons (Tampa, FL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Riverview Sharks (Riverview, FL), 2-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Gryphons now own a 10-2 record. They take the field next when they host Gaither for a 6A District 7 challenge on Thursday, March 12. Sickles will face a Cowboys squad coming off a 4-2 league win over Mitchell (New Port Richey, FL). The Cowboys record now stands at 8-2.

With the loss, Riverview falls to 2-4 on the campaign. The Sharks travel to East Bay (Gibsonton, FL) to face the Indians in a 6A District 8 challenge on Wednesday, March 11. The Indians enter the challenge with a record of 8-4. East Bay won 2-0 in their recent league challenge against Sarasota (Sarasota, FL)
