California High School Basketball - Torrance holds off South

(January 27, 2012: Torrance, CA 90505) Torrance Tartars (Torrance, CA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the host South Spartans (Torrance, CA), 51-44 in a league bout.

With the win, Torrance upgrades its record to 9-8 on the season. The Tartars travel to Lawndale (Lawndale, CA) to play the Cardinals in a Pioneer bout on Wednesday, February 1. The Cardinals go into the bout with a record of 8-12. Lawndale lost 53-33 in their recent league game against El Segundo (El Segundo, CA)

With the defeat, South moves to 16-7 on the year. The Spartans travel to North (Torrance, CA) to face the Saxons in a Pioneer game on Thursday, February 2. The Saxons enter the game with a record of 14-9. North won 51-43 in their recent league game against Centennial (Compton, CA)
