Texas High School Basketball - Strake Jesuit crushes Katy

(February 24, 2009: Katy, TX 77494) Strake Jesuit Crusaders (Houston, TX) fans went home content Tuesday as they observed their basketball team smash the host Katy Tigers (Katy, TX), 72-43 in a non-league game.

With the defeat, Katy moves to 7-17 on the year.

Scoring Summary

First Quarter Summary:: In the 1st quarter of play, Jesuit looked to shake off the rust from not playing in seven days. Katy looked to be the spoiler but found that the Crusaders were more than ready as they went on an early 11-0 run. The Tigers would respond with a 3 basket run to finish the quarter down by 7.
Second Quarter Summary:: In the 2nd quarter, Katy settled in hitting shots out of their half court sets and converting on Jesuit turnovers. The Crusaders would finally start to get inside of the Tiger's defense and get high percentage shots as opposed to the 3 pt. shots taken earlier in the game.
Third Quarter Summary:: The start of the 3rd saw Jesuit come out hungry to put the game out of reach for Katy as they went on a 6-0 run before the Tigers called timeout. The Crusaders would keep up their defensive pressure throughout this quarter as they held Katy to 4 points while scoring a total of 20.
Fourth Quarter Summary:: With the game secured, the Crusaders would get their starters much deserved rest as the Jesuit reserves picked up the pace and scoring while bringing the Tiger's season to an end.
