(September 15, 2008: St. Augustine, FL 32084) In Monday's league battle, the host Florida School for the Deaf Dragons volleyball team scored a tight 3-2 triumph over the University Christian Christians.

The Dragons (1-3) will now prepare for their battle against Providence (Jacksonville, FL). The Stallions come into the 2A District 6 battle with a 3-2 record. In their last battle, Providence was edged by Episcopal (Jacksonville, FL), 3-1, in a non-league battle.

Next, the Christians clash with the St. Joseph Flashes (St. Augustine, FL) in a 2A District 6 battle, on Thursday, September 18. University Christian will attempt to advance on its 0-6 season record. The Flashes come into the battle with a 6-1 record after their 3-1 non-league loss to Menendez (St. Augustine, FL).

The Varsity girls gave us a roller coaster ride tonight! They fought hard the first game, but couldn’t secure the win and lost 21-25. After that, they pulled up their socks and got to work. They won the second and third games 25-22 and 25-15. The fourth game they realized how tiring it is to play four games and lost 19-25. But they dug down deep for the fifth, and final, game and won 15-12. Great job girls!

Eric sure was busy with the stats tonight. The girls haven’t given his pencil much work this season, but he got a workout tonight! Lakeisha McNair broke one school record and tied another! She broke the record for the most blocks in one match. She had 7 blocks. The previous record holder was Casey Buholtz (Class of ’06) with 4 blocks. Lakeisha also tied Belisha Shields (Class of ’06) and Olivia Malcolm (Class of ’07) with 14 kills in one match. Lakeisha also served for 4 poin
