Mississippi High School Basketball - Callaway nudges Jim Hill

(November 8, 2011: Jackson, MS 39206) Callaway Chargers (Jackson, MS) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the visiting Jim Hill Tigers (Jackson, MS), 63-59 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Callaway upgrades its record to 2-0 on the season. The Chargers host Piney Woods (Piney Woods, MS) to encounter the Tornadoes in a non-league bout on Thursday, November 10. The Tornadoes go into the bout with a record of 0-2. Piney Woods lost 85-75 in their recent non-league bout against Raymond (Raymond, MS)

Next up, the Tigers encounter the Meridian Wildcats (Meridian, MS) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, November 10. Jim Hill will attempt to upgrade on its 1-1 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 1-1 record after their 75-34 non-league loss to Starkville (Starkville, MS).

Scoring Summary

First Quarter Summary:: Calloway was off to a quick start Freshman sensation Malik started off hitting 3's from all over the gym. He demonstrated poise and self-control as he man handled Jim Hills defenders.
Second Quarter Summary:: Calloway was stilling going on all 8 cylinders as if they weren't going to slow down. But Ole Jim Hill was not going to give up. A lot of missed opportunities in the 1st half sent Jim Hill to their locker room down by 13 pts.
Third Quarter Summary:: After half time Ole Jim Hill and Dandy Dozen Fred Thomas started to rally back but the Sensational Freshman was not finished yet. He was still red hot. Jim Hill outscored Callaway by 2 pts in the 3rd quater which took them to the fourth down by 11.
Fourth Quarter Summary:: Dandy Dozen Fred Thomas proved to the city why he was named MVP of the all star game 2 big steals lead to two big easy slams by Dandy Dozen Fred Thomas. A big block and big rebound by Fred Thomas motivated the Jim Hill Tigers. They began to play like the tigers of 2004 which included Head Coach dandy dozen Stan "The Man" Speech. Jim Junior class tied the game with 3:23 left in the fourth. Too many missed layups and missed freethrows cost the Tigers the game.
