(January 16, 2012: Carthage, TN 37030) Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Smith County Owls (Carthage, TN) and the visiting Middle Tennessee Heat (Mt. Juliet, TN), saw Smith County's basketball squad knock off Middle Tennessee Heat by a score of 50-34.
With the victory, Smith County improves its record to 11-9 on the campaign. The Owls host DeKalb County (Smithville, TN) to battle the Tigers in a AA District 8 challenge on Friday, January 20. The Tigers come into the challenge with a record of 8-10. DeKalb County lost 42-41 in their recent non-league challenge against Warren County (McMinnville, TN)
Next up, the battle the Red Boiling Springs Bulldogs (Red Boiling Springs, TN) in a non-league challenge, on Tuesday, January 17. Middle Tennessee Heat will attempt to improve on its 8-11 season record. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a 7-15 record after their 53-19 non-league loss to Clay County (Celina, TN).
