Arizona High School Basketball - Mountain View holds off Canyon Springs

(December 31, 2009: Mesa, AZ 85213) Fans at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Mountain View Toros (Mesa, AZ) and the visiting Canyon Springs Pioneers (North Las Vegas, NV), saw Mountain View's basketball squad hold off Canyon Springs by a count of 67-61.

With the victory, Mountain View upgrades its record to 9-2 on the campaign. The Toros travel to Mesquite (Gilbert, AZ) to play the Wildcats in a 5A Central challenge on Tuesday, January 5. The Wildcats come into the challenge with a record of 13-1. Mesquite won 92-89 in their recent non-league challenge against St. Mary's (Phoenix, AZ)

Next up, the Pioneers play the Sunrise Mountain (Las Vegas, NV) in a Sunrise - Northeast challenge, on Tuesday, January 5. Canyon Springs will attempt to upgrade on its 11-3 season record. The come into the challenge with a 0-6 record after their 72-62 non-league loss to Shadow Ridge (Las Vegas, NV).
