Texas High School Basketball - Rio Hondo holds off Port Isabel

(January 13, 2012: Port Isabel, TX 78578) Rio Hondo Bobcats (Rio Hondo, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the host Port Isabel Tarpons (Port Isabel, TX), 64-58 in a league bout.

With the win, Rio Hondo upgrades its record to 5-4 on the season. The Bobcats travel to Progreso (Progreso, TX) to play the Red Ants in a 3A Region IV District 32 bout on Tuesday, January 17. The Red Ants go into the challenge with a record of 4-19. Progreso won 50-47 in their recent league challenge against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest (Pharr, TX)

Next up, the Tarpons battle the Zapata Hawks (Zapata, TX) in a 3A Region IV District 32 challenge, on Tuesday, January 17. Port Isabel will attempt to improve on its 14-4 season record. The Hawks come into the challenge with a 0-9 record after their 69-51 league loss to Grulla (Rio Grande City, TX).
