Florida High School Baseball - Riverview can't hold off Armwood

(March 14, 2009: Seffner, FL 33584) In Saturday's non-league game, the host Armwood Hawks baseball team scored a tight 11-10 victory over the Riverview Sharks.

The Hawks (9-1) will now prepare for their game against Newsome (Lithia, FL). The Wolves go into the 5A District 8 game with a 3-6 record. In their last game, Newsome was edged by Bloomingdale (Valrico, FL), 8-0, in a league game.

The Sharks (5-5) will now prepare for their game against Durant (Plant City, FL). The Cougars come into the 6A District 8 contest with a 5-5 record. In their last contest, Durant got by Brandon (Brandon, FL), 4-2, in a non-league contest.
Scoring Summary

The Hawks spotted Riverview six runs on three hits and four errors in the first inning, then came charging back to hold off the Sharks 11-10 Saturday at home. The team made a season high six errors in the game, but banged out 11 hits for their ninth win in ten games so far. Joe Cartwright went 3-4 with two doubles and four RBI to lead the offense. Ty Cherry, Tanner Emmons, and Billy Farrell also hit two baggers. Jake Spano relieved Sean Cramer in the fourth inning and pitched 3 2/3 innings to notch his second win of the season. Zack Powers got the last out of the game for his second save. The team will host Newsome Tuesday night then travel to Bloomingdale Friday.
