California High School Basketball - Venice falls to St. Monica

(January 14, 2012: Santa Monica, CA 90403) The St. Monica Mariners basketball team scored 61 points and held the visiting Venice Gondoliers to 47 in the Mariners non-league triumph on Saturday.

The Mariners now sport a 11-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host Mary Star of the Sea for a Camino Real challenge on Thursday, January 19. St. Monica will play a Stars squad coming off a 62-27 league loss to St. Joseph (Lakewood, CA). The Stars record now stands at 5-12.

Next up, the Gondoliers play the Westchester Comets (Los Angeles, CA) in a Western challenge, on Wednesday, January 18. Venice will attempt to upgrade on its 7-11 season record. The Comets come into the challenge with a 10-7 record after their 66-37 league win over LACES (Los Angeles, CA).
