North Carolina High School Basketball - Butler thwarts Independence

(January 13, 2012: Charlotte, NC 28227) The Butler Bulldogs (Matthews, NC) basketball felled the host Independence Patriots (Charlotte, NC), 61-50 in Friday's league test.

The Bulldogs (8-8) will now prepare for their test against Myers Park (Charlotte, NC). The Mustangs go into the 4A Southwestern test with a 17-0 record. In their last test, Myers Park defeated Rocky River (Mint Hill, NC), 96-21, in a league test.

The Patriots now own a 4-10 record. They take the field next when they host East Mecklenburg for a 4A Southwestern test on Friday, January 20. Independence will clash with a Eagles squad coming off a 57-32 league win over South Mecklenburg (Charlotte, NC). The Eagles record now stands at 5-10.
