(October 7, 2011: Newton, KS 67114) The Newton Railroaders football team (Newton, KS), was beaten 43-20 in Friday's league challenge with the visiting Central Mustangs (Salina, KS)

The Mustangs (5-1) will now prepare for their challenge against South (Salina, KS). The Cougars come into the Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail Division I challenge with a 2-4 record. In their last challenge, South was beaten by Derby (Derby, KS), 42-14, in a league challenge.

The Railroaders now sport a 2-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Emporia for a non-league challenge on Friday, October 14. Newton will meet a Spartans team coming off a 28-21 league win over Junction City/St. Xavier (Junction City, KS). The Spartans record now stands at 3-3.
