Tennessee High School Basketball - Cumberland County holds off Smith County
(January 3, 2012: Crossville, TN 38555) Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Cumberland County Jets (Crossville, TN) and the visiting Smith County Owls (Carthage, TN), saw Cumberland County's basketball squad hold off Smith County by a score of 50-43.
With the victory, Cumberland County improves its record to 8-8 on the campaign. The Jets travel to White County (Sparta, TN) to play the Warriors in a AAA District 6 challenge on Tuesday, January 17. The Warriors come into the challenge with a record of 4-11.
Next, the Owls clash with the Middle Tennessee Heat (Mt. Juliet, TN) in a non-league test, on Thursday, January 5. Smith County will attempt to advance on its 7-8 season record. The go into the test with a 7-9 record after their 62-21 non-league loss to Pope John Paul II (Hendersonville, TN).
