Mississippi High School Basketball - DeSoto Central overwhelms Starkville Academy

(December 30, 2011: Starkville, MS 39759) Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the DeSoto Central Jaguars (Southaven, MS) and the host Starkville Academy Volunteers (Starkville, MS), saw DeSoto Central's basketball squad trounce Starkville Academy by a score of 68-29.

With the victory, DeSoto Central improves its record to 17-1 on the campaign. The Jaguars travel to Center Hill (Olive Branch, MS) to battle the Mustangs in a non-league challenge on Tuesday, January 3. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a record of 2-11. Center Hill lost 66-53 in their recent non-league challenge against Belmont (Belmont, MS)

Next up, the Volunteers battle the Hillcrest Christian Cougars (Jackson, MS) in a MAIS AAA II District 2 challenge, on Friday, January 6. Starkville Academy will attempt to improve on its 4-7 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 13-2 record after their 52-35 non-league win over St. Andrews Episcopal (Ridgeland, MS).
