(December 9, 2011: Cameron, NC 28326) Union Pines Vikings (Cameron, NC) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Douglas Byrd Eagles (Fayetteville, NC), 51-34 in a league bout.

With the win, Union Pines upgrades its record to 4-1 on the season. The Vikings travel to Grays Creek (Hope Mills, NC) to play the Bears in a 3A Cape Fear Valley bout on Wednesday, December 14. The Bears go into the bout with a record of 1-5. Grays Creek lost 40-39 in their recent non-league bout against Red Springs (Red Springs, NC)

Next up, the Eagles play the Westover Wolverines (Fayetteville, NC) in a 3A Cape Fear Valley bout, on Monday, December 12. Douglas Byrd will attempt to upgrade on its 1-3 season record.
