California High School Basketball - Verbum Dei holds off St. Anthony
(January 25, 2012: Long Beach, CA 90802) Verbum Dei Eagles (Los Angeles, CA) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the host St. Anthony Saints (Long Beach, CA), 50-44 in a league bout.
With the win, Verbum Dei upgrades its record to 11-9 on the season. The Eagles host Salesian (Los Angeles, CA) to play the Mustangs in a bout on Friday, January 27. The Mustangs go into the bout with a record of 5-8. Salesian won 58-55 in their recent league bout against Bellarmine-Jefferson (Burbank, CA)
Next up, the Saints play the Serra Cavaliers (Gardena, CA) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, January 28. St. Anthony will attempt to upgrade on its 5-9 season record.
