Virginia High School Basketball - DeMatha thwarts O'Connell

(February 17, 2009: Arlington, VA 22213) The DeMatha Stags (Hyattsville, MD) basketball felled the host O'Connell Knights (Arlington, VA), 64-53 in Tuesday's league test.

The Stags (27-3) will now prepare for their test against Gonzaga (Washington, DC). The Eagles go into the Washington Catholic test with a 24-3 record. In their last test, Gonzaga defeated Bishop Ireton (Alexandria, VA), 69-54, in a non-league test.

The Knights now own a 22-7 record. They take the field next when they travel to Archbishop Carroll for a Washington Catholic test on Friday, February 20.
