(February 11, 2012: Hoover, AL 35244) The Hoover Buccaneers the visiting St. Paul Wolves lacrosse squad by a final score of 6-3 in Saturday's non-league test.

Coming up next, the Buccaneers confront the Ravenwood Raptors (Brentwood, TN) in a non-league test, on Saturday, February 25. Hoover will attempt to advance on its 1-0 season record.

The Wolves now own a 7-3 record. They play next when they travel to Mountain Brook for a non-league test on Sunday, February 12.

Scoring Summary

Below freezing temperatures and 20 mph wind gusts greeted the St. Paul Wolves as they squared off against the Hoover High Bucaneers at Hoover Stadium. The Bucs were victorious in their season opener, holding off the Wolves by a score of 6-3.

St. Paul took an early lead when TJ Jenkins fed Brandon Power who ripped an outside shot in a man-up opportunity. Hoover fought back to tie the game at 1 apiece. The Wolves regained the lead at 2-1 when senior midfielder Kyle Carriere beat the Hoover goalie as the horn sounded to end the first quarter.

The second quarter saw Hoover use their outstanding quickness to take a 3-2 lead into halftime.

St. Paul closed the gap when Danny Dubuc found Peter Baricev cutting to the crease for a quickstick score. The Wolves could not get closer as the Bucs pulled away for the victory.
