California High School Basketball - McFarland can't hold off Shafter

(January 8, 2008: McFarland, CA 93250) The Shafter Generals basketball team scored 63 points and held the host McFarland Cougars to 58 in the Generals non-league triumph on Tuesday.

The Generals now sport a 4-10 record. They put it on the line next when they host Taft for a South Sequoia contest on Friday, January 11. Shafter will meet a Wildcats team coming off a 76-40 non-league win over Coast Union (Cambria, CA). The Wildcats record now stands at 10-10.

The Cougars (4-9) will now prepare for their contest against Strathmore (Strathmore, CA). The Spartans enter the East Sierra contest with a 5-8 record. In their last contest, Strathmore was nudged by Lindsay (Lindsay, CA), 51-45, in a non-league contest.
