Florida High School Baseball - Plant City nudged by Freedom

(February 28, 2009: Tampa, FL 33647) The Freedom Patriots baseball team scored 5 points and limited the visiting Plant City Raiders to 4 in the Patriots non-league victory on Saturday.

The Patriots (3-2) will now prepare for their match against King (Tampa, FL). The Lions go into the 5A District 8 match with a 2-3 record. In their last match, King was edged by East Bay (Gibsonton, FL), 9-7, in a non-league match.

The Raiders (1-4) will now prepare for their match against East Bay (Gibsonton, FL). The Indians go into the 6A District 8 match with a 1-4 record. In their last match, East Bay edged King (Tampa, FL), 9-7, in a non-league match.
Scoring Summary

Plant City jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first off of a Mica Carmony two run home run. Freedom answered in the fourth inning when Dane Moore hit a solo homerun. Two more runs scored in the inning off of Chris Bonti and TJ Woodham basehits and a Plant City throwing error. Plant City came right back to score two runs in the top of the 5th off of consecutive basehits and a Freedom throwing error. Freedom was put down in the fifth and sixth innings before scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. In the seventh the lead off hitter, Parker Pope walked, advanced to second on a wild pitch, was sacrificed to third and scored on a two out double by Jay Carroll. With Carroll on second Dexture McCall answered with a basehit to center scoring Carroll with the winning run.
