Florida High School Basketball - Wharton holds off Lakewood

(December 28, 2011: Tampa, FL 33647) Wharton Wildcats (Tampa, FL) backers were pleased Wednesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Lakewood Spartans (St. Petersburg, FL), 43-41 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Wharton upgrades its record to 12-1 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Durant (Plant City, FL) to play the Cougars in a 8A District 7 bout on Tuesday, January 3. The Cougars come into the bout with a record of 1-8. Durant lost 62-57 in their recent non-league bout against Armwood (Seffner, FL)

Next up, the Spartans play the St. Petersburg Green Devils (St. Petersburg, FL) in a non-league bout, on Wednesday, January 4. Lakewood will attempt to upgrade on its 6-2 season record.
