California High School Baseball - Whitney gets by El Camino

(April 28, 2011: Rocklin, CA 95765) Spectators at Thursday's league battle between the Whitney Wildcats (Rocklin, CA) and the visiting El Camino Eagles (Sacramento, CA), saw Whitney's baseball squad knock off El Camino by a count of 4-1.

Coming up next, the Wildcats play the Cordova Lancers (Rancho Cordova, CA) in a Capital battle, on Tuesday, May 3. Whitney will attempt to move on its 12-8 season record. The Lancers enter the battle with a 12-10 record after their 9-6 league win over Antelope (Antelope, CA).

The Eagles now possess a 6-16 record. They take the field next when they host Mira Loma for a Capital battle on Tuesday, May 3. El Camino will play a Matadors squad coming off a 10-0 non-league loss to Sacramento (Sacramento, CA). The Matadors record now stands at 2-14.

Scoring Summary

: Once again, the Eagles come out flat - no real execution, poor defense, and a lack of clutch hitting equals another loss that more than likely drops the Eagles from any kind of playoff scenario. Michael Frantz is stellar on the mound once again - goes complete game, gives up 4R, 1 earned, strikes out 5, walks only one and picks off a baserunner. He also has the lone RBI w/ a SF in the 2nd. Dee Kuwabara continues to improve with a 2B and a long 3B. He looks to be the real deal. Colton Freeman looks impressive, going 2x3. Cole Ebner has the other hit, but continues to sting the ball - smoking line drives all over the yard. Coming off a stunning comeback on Tuesday, this one was hard to swallow.
