Florida High School Basketball - Durant holds off Newsome
(January 6, 2012: Lithia, FL 33547) Durant Cougars (Plant City, FL) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the host Newsome Wolves (Lithia, FL), 51-47 in a league bout.
With the win, Durant upgrades its record to 11-7 on the season. The Cougars travel to Alonso (Tampa, FL) to play the Ravens in a 8A District 7 bout on Friday, January 13. The Ravens go into the bout with a record of 4-12. Alonso lost 60-34 in their recent league bout against Wharton (Tampa, FL)
Next up, the Wolves play the Bloomingdale Bulls (Valrico, FL) in a 8A District 7 bout, on Friday, January 13. Newsome will attempt to upgrade on its 9-7 season record. The Bulls go into the bout with a 3-13 record after their 75-16 league loss to Plant (Tampa, FL).
