Scoring Summary
First Quarter Summary:
The Bucs scored first from a goal from JD Post. Joey Rosati took the ball down the right side and into the box on the dribble. Rosati beat two defenders and cut the ball back to Post, who made the run from the penalty-kick spot and cooly sloted the ball near post. River Ridge put some pressure on the Bucs late in the first half and their work and determination paid off for them. Ratkovic took a cross from the outside and the volleyed home one time shot into the bottom corner of the Berkeley goal. GK Newhaller had no chance at saving the volley. The Bucs regained the lead 4 minutes before the half with a cheecky goal from senior Blake Evans. The ball came from a corner and Mark Biddinger got his head on to the cross. Evans was in the right spot at the right time to backheel the ball into the River Ridge goal. The Bucs outshot the Knights 12 to 4 in the first half.
Second Quarter Summary:
The Knights came out fighting in the second half and put the Bucs on their heels early and often. Newhaller and the defense were tested, but but didn't break. The Bucs also had several good chances to double their lead, but two spectacular saves from River Ridge GK Sean Jones to deny the Bucs. First was JD Post who thought he had a sure goal from a header, only for Jones to push the ball around the post. Next it was Jordan Crockett who went one on one with Jones and blocked the low hard shot. The Bucs outshot the Knights 18 to 11.
