Description: Trinity Christian School Athletic Director June 2017 Trinity Christian School seeks a dedicated team member to serve in the role of Athletic Director. This is a key leadership position at Trinity and offers the right candidate a unique opportunity to take the reins of a vibrant and successful athletic program. With a history of TAPPS state championships and rigorous competition, we are looking for a Kingdom-minded leader to build on the strong foundation laid by previous staff. CANDIDATE PROFILE: We are seeking a candidate with the following characteristics: • The Athletic Director (AD) will be a mature Christian who demonstrates a strong commitment to Christ, an understanding of biblical principles applied to athletics, an understanding of and commitment to Christian school education (specifically the principles of Kingdom Education), and be ministry focused with a demonstrated commitment to the local church. • The Athletic Director will be a visionary and progressive communicator. He or she will be someone who loves students and families, has strong relational skills, a desire to build strong Christian community and conduct outreach to the broader community. • The Athletic Director will have a strong athletic background, including varsity coaching experience, and be skilled at promoting excellence across all sports. He or she will have a passion and the skill set to develop and mentor coaches spiritually and professionally. • The Athletic Director will be a leader and administrator who oversees the operational management of the Athletic Department. He or she will also be able and willing to assist with fundraising through the Booster Club and Advancement Office. Spiritual Maturity • Deep demonstrated commitment to Christ • Clear biblical worldview of athletics • Commitment to the local church (willing to join Trinity Church) • Commitment to the principles of Kingdom Education • Demonstrated good judgment and discernment • Ministry focused Visionary and Relational • Broad athletic focus • Able to communicate and inspire with a vision for quality, discipleship and growth • Progressive communicator using modern communication tools • Highly relational with students and parents, a community builder • Ability to “speak the truth in love” so that relationships are maintained, good at conflict resolution Leadership and Development • Demonstrated leadership ability • Extensive athletic experience as coach and in leadership roles • Mentor and developer of coaches Administration • Organized • Capable of understanding and responding appropriately to TAPPS • Capable and willing to engage in fundraising activities with the Booster Club and Advancement Office POSITION SUMMARY: The Athletic Director (AD) has direct responsibility for all Junior High and High School Athletic programs. The AD serves as the lead administrator for athletics and is responsible for recruiting, training, supervising, and mentoring all paid and non-staff coaches. The AD ensures that all students participating in the school’s athletic programs are trained, taught, mentored, and supervised in a manner that is consistent with the school’s mission, core values, and philosophy, as defined in the school’s operating constitution, and in a manner that emphasizes the traits found within the “TCS Portrait of a Graduate.” The AD also ensures that the school’s athletic programs operate within the standards set by the school’s accrediting agency (i.e., ACSI) and are compliant with the relevant athletic association (i.e., TAPPS). KEY AREAS OF FOCUS: • Provide leadership in building a culture of Kingdom Athletics that is characterized by biblical excellence and character. • Take primary responsibility in working with the Superintendent and Principal to recruit, hire, train, and hold coaches accountable. • Mentor coaches spiritually, professionally, and athletically. • Provide administrative and fiscal leadership of the athletic program. • Partner with the TCS Advancement team in developing and implementing fundraising strategies and initiatives. • Build community and create excitement around the athletic program.
