It may only be Monday, but in just 5 days the big game will be here. MaxPreps will be following some of the greatest games in the nation and the days leading up the game. From practice to pep rallies to team dinners, MaxPreps will show all the hype leading up to the game and of course the highlights afterwards.

Friday 11.14 – Brady & Nick
A 26-7 victory for Garfield. After Roosevelt's first score in the opening quarter, we figured it was going to be a long night for the Bulldogs given the size and speed of the Roosevelt squad. But then the bulldogs would make several long and relentless drives down the field to score, and we felt like we never got to see Jesse Diaz and the RoughRiders offense on the field in the 2nd and 3rd quarters! When they finally did get the ball the Garfield defensive line was making Diaz run for his life on what seemed like every passing play. Hats off to Garfield quarterback Patrick Vargas, who is the smallest quarterback we have seen the whole tour, but you haven't seen a tougher one. He was making great passes all night and running the offense in a calm and composed manner. There were a few times he got smacked by the Roosevelt guys twice his size and he popped right back up and went back at it. What a great end to the road tour. Coach Cid and the RoughRider staff was so welcoming and took care of us all week, and the Nike guys were just doing some great things for the Roosevelt program. It's time to go home. Thanks to all involved during the tour for making it such a memorable experience for Nick and Brady!

Thursday 11.13 – Brady & Nick
Today we went over to Roosevelt at lunch time to check out some of the spirit week activities going on, and also had a chance to check out the Nike ID booth that was set up in the quad area. Kids were designing their own custom Nike shoes for a chance to win the shoe they created at the pep rally tomorrow. Later on we went over the dinner banquet that was put on by Nike. Nick and I noticed that there were lots of family members and people from the community there to support the RoughRiders. Roosevelt grad, Heisman trophy winner, and USC athletic director Mike Garret was there as well to give a motivational speech to the RoughRiders. It was quite the night and we are exited for the game tomorrow night!

Wednesday 11.12 - Brady & Nick
Today Nick and I got to attend our first press conference! It was held at East LA College, site of the game friday night and there were players from both teams, coaches and administrators from both schools, and different newspaper and TV people there. It was neat to see the respect that both these teams have for each other and to hear people from both schools talk about how much this game means to them and their community. The stadium was very large and it is exiting to think that it is going to be packed out friday night!! After we went with some coaches and players to El Tepayac, a very popular mexican restaurant near Roosevelt and we had possibly the biggest burritos I have ever seen. Coach Cid told us more about this rivalry and what things were like back when he played at Roosevelt during his high school years. We are getting closer to kickoff.

Tuesday 11.11 - Brady & Nick
Today Nick and I got to meet up with the Nike guys and go out to the RoughRiders practice. The first thing we noticed was that these guys really have some big and physical kids. We got to speak with Coach Cid and several of the RoughRider players including Senior Quarterback Jesse Diaz who has 18 TD's passes and only 1 Interception on the year! You can see his stats HERE. Ken Miller from the Los Angeles Sentinel filled me in on some of the history behind this great rivalry. This is the 74th anniversary of the game they call 'The East LA Classic' and he said that we are in for a treat on Friday night. Roosevelt has an extremely deep team as they have 8 different players with rushing TD's and 10 different receivers with TD catches! They have the ability to outlast their opponents and that has been a huge advantage for them this year. Nike handed out the team shirts to the RoughRiders today and they are sweet.

Monday 11.10 - Brady & Nick
Monday we had a chance to learn a few things about these two teams and this epic rivalry. I have heard several times that this is considered by some to be the most heated rivalry among any in the state. It definitely is the top in the LA City Section. They are expecting somewhere around 20,000 people on friday night! That will rival the game we saw between Massillon and Mckinley in Ohio! Austin Knoblach of the Los Angeles Times said that even if both these teams are bad, they will still have a huge turnout. This year, both the teams are playing well, Roosevelt at 8-1 and Garfield at 5-4. Both of these teams have won big games this year when Roosevelt beat perrenial power Jordan and Garfield upset a very good Birmingham team in their first game of the season. Tommorow we are going to meet up with the Nike guys and head over to watch Roosevelt practice.

Friday 11.7 – Brady & Nick
When people say throw out the records, they really mean it! A 20-6 victory by the North squad really had the potential to be an upset as South certainly had their chances to pull ahead. But it was the North defense who continued their stellar play and would not allow South to move the ball consistently. At half, North lead 7-6 and you felt like South might be able to pull it out, but Zaza and the Mariner running game was just too relentless. The game lived up to expectations as both schools brought plenty of fan support for their team. It was a great week here in Tom's River and we are looking forward to a huge matchup in Los Angeles! Back we go across the country.

Thursday 11.6 – Brady & Nick
Today we went to both of the lunch banquets that Nike put on for these teams. Each kid I talked to from both sides just talked about how much they want to win this game. There is not a whole lot of love between these two teams. I think a huge factor in this game will be the ability of South's offense to move the ball against a stingy North Defense led by DE Mike Henry and LB Steven Barosso. It seems that North looks to be the better team but history has showed that records don't really determine a whole lot in this rivalry game. We are very exited for the game tomorrow night.

Wednesday 11.5 – Brady & Nick
Tom's River is awesome. Nick and I have been treated very well by all the folks down here and all the kids are so exited that MaxPreps and Nike are here for the week! Check out the article written about the game HERE. Today we went to both schools pep rally's and it was great to see how both schools had so much spirit. They both put on a show and you can tell that both sides REALLY want to win this game. After that, we checked out Tom's River South at a cold-windy practice, and the Indians were going at it hard despite the bad weather. Thursday Nike is going to put on an awesome lunch banquet for both teams so we are looking forward to that.

Tuesday 11.4 – Brady & Nick
Wow I think we are in for a treat this week here in Tom's River New Jersey! Today we got to have a look at the North Mariners in practice and they seem to be very well coached staff. They have some very big kids in Defensive End Mike Henry and Temple bound Offensive Tackle Evan Regas. Quarterback Nick Zaza has a very accurate arm and Coach LaBarca is getting the Mariners prepared for Friday night. We got to learn a lot about the history between these two schools and this is the 35th meeting between these two schools. There were a lot of neat stories about all the pranks that coaches and players have pulled for games in the past. Tomorrow both schools are having their rallies and we are going to check out the South Indians at practice.

Monday 11.3 - Brady & Nick
We got into New Jersey last night and luckily it isn't too cold yet! We are going to Tom's River North tomorrow to meet Coach LaBarca and the rest of the Mariners. From the research we have done, it looks like this team has been rolling after a tough loss in their first game of the season. Since then, North's defense has held their opponents to less than 7 points a game which is just as dominant as last year! North and South have one common opponent in Middletown North. They both lost that game but South actually had a closer score, although I believe North has really found their mojo since that game. We are exited to see these teams in practice!

Thursday 10.30 – Brady & Nick
We went to the Dorsey pep rally today where all the Dorsey Dons showed their support for the team. Afterwards was possible one of the coolest things Nike has done the whole tour. There was a standout wide receiver that played for the Dons in the late eighties by the name of Kevin Copeland. Kevin died tragically of a heart condition during a game in 1989 and sent a shock wave through the Dorsey community. Dorsey had a mural of Kevin painted in the school where the team would gather for a prayer before every game. The mural was getting a little old so Nike hired professional artists to repaint the mural much larger and more detailed, and they unveiled that painting to the team and to Kevin Copeland's family today. It was awesome. The game ended in a 34-0 victory by a very good Crenshaw Cougar team. They have a very impressive sophomore running back in De Anthony Thomas. The kid can fly! Dorsey is extremely beat up as they lost several kids to injury during the game adding to a number of good players that were already out with injuries before today. It was a tough one for the Dorsey faithful, but Coach Knox was kind enough to express his gratitude for Nike and MaxPreps after the game. To New Jersey!

Wednesday 10.29 - Brady & Nick
Wednesday was awesome! Nick and I went down to Hollywood in the morning to experience all that we could in the Dorsey-Crenshaw area. We saw all kinds of people dressed up like movie characters, the walk of stars, wax museum, and lots of other cool things. It was great, and got better Wednesday night when the Nike team put on an awesome team dinner for all the Dons. They had great food, showed the Dons a brand new customized team banner and stickers, gave coach Knox a 5D2F team ball, and had a special message from none other than Marshall Faulk! It was a great evening to get the Dons ready for their huge game tomorrow night!! The Dons are young but they have put a hard week of practice and coach Knox has them ready to go.

Tuesday 10.28 – Brady & Nick
Coach Jay Harris from Dorsey was nice enough to show us around town today and it was quite the experience! First we went to Roscoe's to eat… waffles and fried chicken!! It was comparable to The Beacon Restaurant in South Carolina but not quite as bad. Then we went and talked to some of the local people at local barber shops and Coach Harris filled us in on some of the history of the Dorsey-Crenshaw rivalry. These schools sit very close to each other in a very tough part of town in Los Angeles. Although Crenshaw is 3-3, don't be misled because they have played some very good competition to this point and have won 3 straight. At 6-1, this will be one of Dorsey's biggest challenges. Ron Guild, writer from the Los Angeles Wave said to look out for sophomore tailback, De Anthony Thomas from Crenshaw as he been a big threat for the Cougars this year.

Monday 10.27 – Brady & Nick
After a long flight into Los Angeles, Nick and I went straight to Dorsey High School to meet up with the Nike guys. They have lots of great things planned for the Dons this week. The difference between this program and the one we were at last week (Massillon) is unbelievable. They simply do not have a lot of money here, but the amazing thing is how the coaches still manage to put out a huge number of D1 football players. Dorsey and Crenshaw sit about five minutes from each other and both communities are getting fired up for this classic rivalry game in Los Angeles. Dorsey has some very big kids up front, and despite a lot of injuries have some impressive skills players.

Saturday 10.25 – Brady & Nick
Is there such thing as a perfect game in football? The Massillon Tigers played nearly flawless football in a 17-0 victory over McKinley in front of a full capacity crowd at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. I don't think the Massillon faithful could have asked for a better ending to a full week of celebration and tradition. You can basically say the opposite for the McKinley fans. The streets of Massillon were buzzing after the game as the people of this town celebrated late into the night. Another year and another classic matchup between these two teams. I think a lot of folks were surprised at how this game turned out (except Tiger fans). For now, we head back to Los Angeles for a classic rivalry between Dorsey and Crenshaw at Jackie Robinson Stadium.

Friday 10.24 – Brady & Nick
What a great day. Normally Nick and I are talking about the night's game late on Friday, but instead we are just gearing up for the game tomorrow! It was a rainy day in Massillon, but that did not stop the Tiger fans from celebrating this great game. There was an awesome pep rally at Massillon and later on went to the team dinner where Nike presented the Tigers with a locker room sign and Coach Hall with a 5D2F game ball. Then things got very fun at the rain soaked Tiger Parade down Main Street. It was one of the coolest things I have ever been to. Watching all the community come out to support their team made me want to be a part of it. Then we took some time to warm up by the bon fire after the parade. Check out this article written by MaxPreps Writer Matt Florjancic that gives some of the story from the McKinley side of things HERE.

Thursday 10.23 – Brady & Nick
I think we will just spend the rest of the Road Tour here in the Massillon-Canton area! Everyone has been so welcoming and the games just don't get more exiting than this one. My brother Mike was here on the road tour 2 years ago and he told me that this was one of his favorite games. Check out the article Mike wrote on the game 2 years ago HERE. Nick, Mike and I were on a national radio show last night with Ray Ellis who played for the Bulldogs, Ohio State, and in the NFL, and it was great to hear Ray talk about his fond memories of the Massillon-McKinley games he played in. You can find the broadcast in the archive HERE. We will need a good nights rest tonight as we know that tomorrow is going to be a big day.

Wednesday 10.22 – Brady & Nick
Nick and I checked out the Nike ID booth today where Massillon kids were designing their own custom Nike shoes at lunch. Then we took a trip to the other side of town to meet Coach Johnson and the Bulldogs of McKinley. They were practicing and getting focused for the game on Saturday. The McKinley folks are arguably just as passionate about their Bulldogs as Massillon. One thing is for sure….there is not a lot of love between these two teams! It was so cool to see the Pro Football Hall of Fame right next to the Bulldogs stadium. Then back to Massillon where Nike gave brand new customized Massillon T-shirts to all of the Tigers after practice. They were pumped.

Tuesday 10.21 - Brady & Nick
We got to go to the Booster Club meeting today which was awesome. The team captains, cheerleaders, band, and numerous local supporters of Massillon Football were all there for the gathering. Coach Hall got up and talked about the game and Steven Luke, a former Massillon player who played for Ohio State and Green Bay was there to talk about how much he cherishes his time as a Tiger. The tradition here is pretty incredible and it is all made possible by the great people in this community! It is getting cold and sounds like it may rain on Saturday....I say 'LET IT RAIIIIIN!'"

Monday 10.20 – Brady & Nick
Could the fanfare and community excitement in this Massillon – McKinley matchup top that of Byrnes in SC?? I think so! You would not believe how many signs the spirit team put up in the Massillon hallways. They were completely covered all over the place!! There is an endless list of community and team events for this Massillon team and I'm sure there is plenty going on at McKinley as well. Parades, dinners, rally's, community gatherings, bon fires, you name it; they do it here in Massillon. We haven't even talked about the game yet! It is going to be a crazy week.

Saturday 10.18 - Adam & Karl
Today was the big game between the Wild Cats and the Bombers. With the Nike van playing music and giving away drinks, food and cool shirts to the St. Ignatius JV players and fans, the day was off to a great start. Finally it was game time. The game was a hard fought battle from both teams. With the score tied 13 a piece, extra time would be needed to distinguish a winner. After the Wild Cats great goal line defensive efforts, they were able to prevent a touchdown, forcing the Bombers to kick a field goal. Despite the equally first four quarters, the St. Ignatius Wild Cats were able to fight their way into the end zone, making the final score 19-16. After the game we had to race to the airport where I had a plane to catch, while Karl made his way back to Pittsburgh for the night. An exciting week, we had a great time covering the St. Ignatius Wild Cats!

Friday 10.17 - Brady & Nick
Mater Dei definitely rose to the occasion and played their best game of the year. We need to give lots of credit to the Mater Dei offensive line, who opened big holes for Allen and Hytche, and gave Matt Barkley plenty of time to pass all night. Make it 21 years that Servite has not beaten Mater Dei although they are a great program. We were impressed by the intensity and spirit of the fans from both sides. Both of these schools truly has great tradition. What a great week! Now it is on to Massillon, Ohio!

Friday 10.17 - Adam & Karl
Today we made the long trip from Cleveland to Cincinnati. More then 4 hours away, we made a stop in Columbus where we had a bite to eat and got to check out some of the Ohio State campus. With our arrival in Cincinnati at our new hotel, we got the equipment ready for the game tomorrow afternoon and called it a night.

Thursday 10.16 - Brady & Nick
Wow, lots of great stuff today. We had a chance to go and meet Coach Troy Thomas and the Friars of Servite High. The JV game was going on at the school and you could sense the excitement building around tomorrow nights game. Coach Thomas was very cool and talked to us about how their program is about more than just football, it's about these kids growing to be better men. I thought that was cool, and sometimes rare in todays high school football world. But make no mistake, the Friars are very hungry for a win against win against the storied Mater Dei team. Cal State Fullerton's football field is going to be at full capacity tomorrow night!

Thursday 10.16 - Adam & Karl
Today was all about Nike and their support for the Wild Cats. After showing the team a video that was made specifically for them, the Nike staff had a few more treats for the team. They were given brand new Nike and St. Ignatius banners to hang up in the locker room and to bring to games. Nike also gave them a game ball that Coach Kyle would give to the player who performed best. And to top of this experience, they got cool 5 Days 2 Friday patches to have put on their Football Jackets to remember this special week. After leaving the team we went back to the hotel to finish up this weeks video package.

Wednesday 10.15 – Brady & Nick
Had a chance to speak with prep editor Eric Sondheimer of the LA Times today. He thought that although both these teams were 3-2, they both still have a chance and the ability to claim the Trinity league title. This opening game of league play will likely be a huge factor in deciding the champion of this extremely competitive league, maybe the toughest league we've seen all year. The Nike team had an awesome team lunch for the Monarchs today and they presented the team with customized Mater Dei Football T-Shirts from Nike along with sweet bumper stickers and a huge team banner for the field. The Monarchs were pumped. We had a chance to speak with Coach Rollinson, and he was doing everything he could to get the guys ready for Friday night. Tomorrow we might get to catch some of the Servite practice.

Wednesday 10.15 - Adam & Karl
Another exciting day here in Cleveland, we continued spending time with the team while they got ready for Bombers. As focused as they were yesterday, the seemed to be even more excited about our presence today. After talking to a few of the players, they had the chance to check out our previous videos at Gateway and Central Catholic which gave them a better understanding of why we were covering them; because they deserved it. After practice, Nike gave them special T-shirts that were made just for them. With the new shirts in hand, we also gave them special memorable Maxpreps and Nike 5 Days 2 Friday cards, that they would be able to keep forever remembering these special days with us. The night ended with Karl meeting some of his parents friends from his childhood days in Toledo, while I got to watch Obama and McCain go head to head in another debate.

Tuesday 10.14 – Brady & Nick
Looks like the game is going to be sold out at Cal State Fullerton Friday night!! How exiting. Although these teams are both 3-2, these losses are against very good teams, and both squads still have a chance to turn things around. This rivalry is still heated no matter what the records. Mater Dei has traditionally dominated this matchup including a 38-13 rout last year, but I think that Servite is going to have a pretty good shot this year. The youth in the Mater Dei squad has proved to be costly early in the year. Their defense is going to need to step it up this week. Matt Barkley is following in some impressive footsteps in the QB position at Mater Dei including Matt Leinart and Colt Brennan. Nike is going to be doing some awesome stuff tomorrow for the Monarchs.

Tuesday 10.14 - Adam & Karl
Today we actually got to see the Wild Cats since they were only in headgear yesterday. They looked focused as they went through their drills and scout. With only a few more days to get ready for the game, they looked to be in good shape. Karl and I also got to meet a number of former players and faculty members who were just as passionate about the school and team. The day ended with us back at the hotel where I continued trying to get in touch with local media outlets while Karl edited the first preview package.

Monday 10.13 – Brady & Nick
Can't beat the California weather. Although it was a little bit windy today out at Mater Dei Practice. We met up with the Nike guys and got to see the Monarchs practice. They started it off with some intense Velocity training warm up, which looked like a great way to get the rust out on Monday. Keep in mind the Monarchs did not play this last week. We got to meet coach Rollinson who was very nice and got to take a look at highly touted QB Matt Barkley, who is headed to USC next year. He looks okay I guess, I mean……tall, quick, strong, with a laser guided cannon attached to his shoulder. He's legit.

Monday 10.13 - Adam & Karl
After meeting the nationally ranked Gators and Coach Terry Smith who will be the head coach of the U. S Army All American East team, I thought it would be tough coming across another coach and team as impressive…until we got here in Cleveland, Ohio. With a squad about triple the size of last weeks Gators, St. Ignatius Wild Cats also have a number of D1 prospects, one of the best teams in the state and a highly accomplished and respectable coach. Instead of coaching an Army All American team, Coach Chuck Kyle is the most successful high school football coach in Ohio's history, leading St. Ignatius to nine state championships and was therefore named the first head coach of the U.S Junior National team. Today we were fortunate to meet him and his squad. Only wearing their helmets during practice today, you could still see the discipline and enthusiasm they have for the game. After a light practice they watched some game footage to help get ready for the big game against St. Xavier this weekend. After leaving St. Ignatius, Karl and I went back to the hotel where he began to edit the first preview video for this week. While he did this I was sending out emails to local media sources.

Saturday 10.11 - Adam & Karl
If you haven't seen last nights game between the Gateway Gators and Erie McDowell's Trojans you need to watch the highlight video. Despite the hype of the Gators it came down to the 4th quarter. The first half was a fairly even battle. McDowell got on the scoreboard first by making a field goal that was basically set up by A.J Fenton on a nice 39 yard scramble. The Gators topped that when Robert Kalkstein connected with Cory Brown in the back of the end zone on a 9 yard touchdown pass. That was pretty much it for the half. The next touchdown would come from Dorian Bell from the two yard line making the score 3-14. The Trojans responded when Fenton had another touchdown pass and ran the two point conversion in cutting the Gators lead to only 3. But in response Josh Vermeulen returned the following kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown, pushing the Gators lead back to 10 points. Then after a field goal from the Gators, Fenton threw his second touchdown of the night cutting the Gators lead to only 6 points. To finish the Trojans off, Brian Williams had a 77 yard touchdown run making the final score 18-30, keeping the Gators undefeated streak alive. The night ended with a long ride back to Pittsburgh. Saturday consisted of us editing the highlight video and doing research on next weeks Nike team, St. Ignatius of Cleveland, Ohio.

Friday 10.10 - Brady & Nick
It's all over. This was a great game!........for the first quarter. After an exciting first quarter, it got ugly in the second half as WWS returned two interceptions for touchdowns. At the half, the game was pretty much out of reach. WWS ended up winning 45-14 even without star tailback Peter Jarret. Mike Olp filled in for Jarret and went 5 carries for 80 yards with a 51 yard TD run. The WWS defense was suffocating and didn't give Wheaton North QB Justin Swider much of a chance to get the offense going. All that said, I'm still not convinced about WWS on the national scene. I would like to see them play a team like Byrnes (SC), or Camden County (GA) and see how they hold up. They will get a fair test against Naperville North in two weeks. It was a great week here, but Brady and Nick are on to sunny California for Mater Dei - Servite!!!

Friday 10.10 – Adam & Karl
It took us 2 ½ hours to drive to Erie but we made it, and so did the Gateway Gators. The number 1 team in the state, Gateway faced off against Erie McDowell for the first time in their school history. With a handful of D1 recruits on the Gators side, all week their main focus has been on Erie's Wisconsin bound Quarterback, A.J Fenton. Many want to know, will Fenton be able to lead the Trojans to a victory against the undefeated Gators? After a long drive back to the hotel, we're just too tired to tell you about it. You need to check out the game video to find out.

Thursday 10.9 – Brady & Nick
We traveled over to the other side of town today to Wheaton North. We got to meet coach Wardynski and his Falcon team really wants to turn the tide in what has been a matchup dominated by WWS in recent years. Over at WWS the Nike guys were presenting the team with custom Nike t-shirts and a sweet locker room sign for the Tigers. Game day is almost here!!! We are still waiting to see if star running back Mike Trumpy is going to be able to play for Wheaton North. Steve Tucker from the Chicago Sun-Times is skeptical that Wheaton North will be able to move the ball against the WWS defense even with Trumpy.

Thursday 10.9 – Adam & Karl
Today we spent our time getting ready for tomorrows big game. While Karl worked on the 5D2F package I did more research on McDowell to get a better idea of what we are in for. As the Gators coaching staff and principle felt, the Quarterback is the main focus. If they can control the line and contain the QB, the Gators should continue their winning ways. Traveling up to McDowell will be the first time in Gateways school history and despite the two hour drive, the Gators seem to be ready.

Wednesday 10.8 – Brady & Nick
We can feel the tension building. Today we were out at practice with the WWS Tigers and we get to see QB Joe Furco's arm during some passing drills. The Tigers do not necessarily have a lot of size, but they are #21 in the nation for a reason. Coach Muhitch today told us that this team prides itself on playing flawless football. And that they have done, with a +11 turnover ratio and a 6-0 record. The Tigers took a big hit yesterday as star running back Peter Jarret went down with an ACL tear. Very unfortunate, and someone will need to step up.

Wednesday 10.8 – Adam & Karl
Today we got to see some of the Gateway students and their cool designs as they got to create their own ideal Nike shoes. After school we hit up the locker room where the players were watching footage of their opponents, Erie McDowell. With the girls soccer team occupying the game field, the rain didn't help today's conditions since they had to practice on the dirt and grass field… which isn't a problem for them but I was wearing my crisp white Nike Forces so I chilled out under a nearby tree while Karl got a little wet going from drill to drill.

Tuesday 10.7 – Brady & Nick
We had to bust out the jackets at WWS practice today for the first time on the tour! Apparently WWS was not fazed by the rain as they were hitting it hard at practice. Nike busted out their new line of receiver and linemen gloves for the Tigers, and they had a chance to test them in the worst of conditions! We had a chance to speak with local preps expert Patrick Mooney from the Naperville Sun. From his perspective, the DuPage Valley Conference is possibly the toughest conference in the state. These kids (and coaches) from WWS and Wheaton North know each other very well and the North side is hungry for a win.

Tuesday 10.7 – Adam & Karl
The fun really began today. We first had the chance to meet up with Post Gazette writer, Mike White and MSN Sports Radio host, Don Rebel. To good guys who had great insight to Gateway and Erie, as well as the rest of the premier PA high school football teams. While they both felt Gateway would win, Don felt McDowell would get blown away. After doing an interview with the two of them we made our way to Gateway. At Gateway we first had the privilege to do an interview with the head principal, Mr. William Short. Shortly after this he introduced us to Athletic Director and Head Coach, Terry Smith. Since Smiths arrival at his alma mater in 2002, he has put up an astonishing record of 53-18, taking his team to six straight playoff appearances. With so much success there is no wonder he was chosen as the 2008 US Army All-American Bowl. After doing an interview with Coach Smith we got a little glimpse of the Gators during their practice.

Monday 10.6 – Brady & Nick
DDDDDDAAAAAAAAAA BEARS!!!!! Sorry I couldn't help it. We were saying it all day today. We are here in Wheaton, Illinois!! WWS and Wheaton North fans lets hear it! We got to meet the WWS Tigers staff today with the Nike team, and spent some time out at practice. Every Monday WWS gets together and goes over all the great performances from last week at all levels of the program. Coaches give out awards and recognize good performance. It is quite the tradition. Today was rather light at practice, but I imagine things will heat up in the coming days. It sounds like this is quite the cross town rivalry!

Monday 10.6 – Adam & Karl
Arriving back in Pittsburgh late Sunday night, Monday was spent primarily planning for the rest of the week. Karl made certain the equipment was working properly, charged the batteries and did other necessary steps to make sure we would be ready for Tuesday. While he did this, I began emailing local media outlets. One person I spoke to was the Funk from WesternPA, who once again gave me great insight to this weeks match up. Very passionate about PA football, we spoke on the phone for about an hour talking about everything from Coach Terry Smith's days on the football field as a player at Gateway, to his current success as Gateway's head coach.

Friday 10.3 – Brady & Nick
Hats off to Pahokee for a great effort in light of the loss of fellow player and friend Norman Griffith. There were signs up and lots of support from the Byrnes fans for the Pahokee football team. The Byrnes defense held Pahokee 3 times in the red zone in the first half. The halftime score was 14-6 Byrnes, and then Byrnes showed their depth and stamina as they came out with a 38-12 rout of Pahokee. I think Byrnes really proved that they belong at the top of the rankings this week. But throw out all the rankings and look out for a huge matchup against a very hot Dorman team in 3 weeks. I don't think people get much nicer than here in Duncan, South Carolina. We will truly miss all the great folks we met here. Heads up Wheaton Warrenville South High in Chicago, here we come!!!

Thursday 10.2 – Brady & Nick
Today Nike presented the Byrnes football team with personalized locker magnets, bag tags, a huge Byrnes football banner, a new stereo for the locker room (which they went nuts over), and a message from Jake Delhomme of the Panthers!!!! Needless to say, the Rebels and Coach Miller were very appreciative and exited!!!! Nike basically was Santa Claus today. Then they went and hit the practice field hard as Byrnes always does. Pahokee is rolling into town late tonight and will be at the school tomorrow for walk throughs. Its almost here!!

Wednesday 10.1 – Brady & Nick
Good glory. Eating at the Beacon is like a train wreck happening in your stomach. Byrnes AD Billy Young and Rebel Touchdown Club President Tony McAbee treated us and the Nike guys to fine dining at the famous "Beacon Drive-In". Chili Cheeseburger, Onion Rings, Fries, Fried Gizzards (you heard right), and a pile of ice cream and whipped cream dessert known as the "Pig's Dinner". Now to business, Pahokee is coming into town tomorrow with heavy hearts from the shooting death of on of their players Norman Griffith. This is going to be a battle. Although Byrnes has had some solid victories over North Gwinnet, GA and local rival Gaffney, I don't know if they have seen a team quite like Pahokee! Senior QB converted from WR Nu'Keese Richardson can do lots of damage throwing or running the ball.

Tuesday 9.30 – Brady & Nick
The community around the Byrnes football program is like none we have seen! Southern Hospitality has become a reality us tonight as we must have been invited to 10 different events. Tuesday night is Rebel radio night at the local Zaxby's (fried chicken place for all you west coast people), Tony Mcabee is the host and he brings on players, coaches, and he was kind enough to bring us on the show and the Nike representative Scott Henson. It was great to see how the local community rallies around this program. We got to spend some time at practice and I might say the Rebels look very impressive. Very disciplined and talented. The word on the street is that Pahokee is a very talented team, but I don't know if they can keep up with the pace of the Byrnes style of play. It is another state champion battle. Division 2B State Champs from Florida and AAAA Division 1 champs from South Carolina.

Sunday 9.28 - Brady & Nick
Don Bosco is relentless! Those guys just kept grinding and grinding until kicker Patrick Murray played the hero with a 19 yard field goal. The best part is that Don Bosco battled back from a 21-7 deficit at half, and Patrick had a chance to tie the game with a PAT, but it bounced off the post and Bosco sat behind at 21-20. It looked like Patrick would have a long trip home but he had a chance at redemption and he delivered. Both of these teams were very impressive and well coached and it was a thrill to be able to witness such a historic game. We are on to Duncan, South Carolina for the Byrnes – Pahokee matchup!

Saturday 9.20 – Brady & Nick
What a game!!! Wow. Booker T. Washington looked like they were going to pull it out, with a few minutes left in the game. But Northwestern had a long drive down the field. Quarterback Wayne Times threw a huge TD pass that had the crowd going wild, but there was a holding call against the Bulls, which looked like it was going to seal the deal. But Times stayed calm and used his legs to put the Bulls in the endzone and ahead 31-29, which would end up being the final score. Man, those kids were fast. Both quarterbacks were very elusive. Brady And Nick are on to Concord California, for a East Coast – West Coast battle between Don Bosco Prep, NJ and De La Salle, CA. These are two of the most successful and proud programs in the nation. Should be a doosy.

Saturday 9.20 – Adam & Karl
Now if you weren't at the game last night, you definitely missed out! Between the intense rivalry, and USC's Coach Jim Render going for his 327th victory, this was a game to see. Coach Jim Render is currently tied for 2nd place on Pennsylvania's All-Time wins list with Mike Pettine. That would have been great for him to pull ahead of Pettine for the sole possession of 2nd place, but he will unfortunately have to wait another week. The day didn't really begin until we arrived at the Upper St. Clair football stadium. After forgetting to charge the battery and leaving the backup at the hotel, Karl had to drive back and get it as quickly as possible. But first, I had to lace up my Nikes and race back to the car to get my camera that I luckily brought. Bringing me back to my track and field days, I was dodging both USC and Central Catholic fans as I worked my way in and out of traffic. So while Karl took off for the hotel, I began filming the first half with my small but yet convenient camera. A slow first half that was all about defense, the second half definitely made up for it. With Karl on the USC side, he made it back when the real fun began. USC's Quarterback #9 Alex Park scored first making the score 7 - 0. Shortly after they forced a safety on Central Catholic making the score 9 – 0. With less then 3 minutes to go in the game, Central Catholic's Quarterback #16 David Smyers scores on a sneak, making the score 9-7. Then the play of the game was one of two different plays. Either Coach Render's decision to punt the ball on 3rd and 11 when they had the lead 9 to 7 or a play by Central Catholics David Smyers and Dom Maggio. The Vikings Quarterback #16 David Smyers was almost sacked when he tossed the ball backwards to Dom Maggio, who ends up getting the first down. Then four plays later with one minute to go, Central Catholic's #18 Matt Oczypok makes a 48 yard field goal to win the game. The final score was Central Catholic 10 – Upper Saint Clair 9. An exciting battle that literally came down to the last 60 seconds, this was one of the best games I've attended so far this season.

Friday 9.19 - Adam & Karl
A slow start to the day, I spent my morning watching Obama and McCain as they spoke about solutions for the countries economic crisis. Finalizing these blogs a little while after, I was able to watch some of the Ryder Cup where I found myself pumping my fist when Phil Mickelson had a birdie on the fifth hole. After leaving the local YMCA, Karl came back to the hotel to continue working on the 5 days 2 Friday package. Certainly excited for the big game, we made sure the camera battery was charged and the other equipment was good to go. Tonight's game will be an electrifying battle between two of the states top twenty teams. I don't know about Karl, but I personally got my money Central Catholic.

Thursday 9.18 - Adam & Karl
The fun began at Central Catholic where we got to see their junior fullback Dom Maggio get honored as the Clearview Federal Credit Union Student-Athlete of the Week. His family, friends and teammates filled the auditorium at Central Catholic High School during the ceremony. He had three touchdowns in the Vikings victory during their previous game against Mt. Lebanon. Shirt and ties worn by all, the auditorium was packed with young exciting men that were eager to show their Viking pride as we filmed the whole event. After getting awarded by WTAE's Jon Burton, we were able to do a quick interview with him in regards to the big game. A fantastic guy, he gave us some great insight to both teams. We then headed over to Upper Saint Clair. While waiting for the football team to finish up practice we were able to get a glimpse at their talented marching band as they practiced in the schools parking lot. Playing funky songs with a school band feel, they had my head rocking while Karl got some great footage. Shortly after, we headed to the local firehouse where the USC players had a delicious arrangement of dishes laid out for their arrival. Minutes later they were sitting at tables with plates full of food only to be empty when I returned from taking a quick phone call outside. An exciting day, Karl and I know tomorrow is going to be crazy!

Wednesday 9.17 - Adam & Karl
Today we had the privilege to meet one of the few faculty members at Central Catholic who were actually teaching there during Dan Marino and Marc Bulger's attendance. Referred to as Mr. E, we interviewed him in front of the schools overwhelmingly large collection of trophies and awards. He briefly told us about Marino's accomplishments on the football field but also mentioned his success as the baseball team's picture. Stressing the importance of the schools rich tradition, he not only told us about their athletic accomplishments but the superb academic program as well. We headed back to the hotel where I continued trying to set up a meeting with post gazette writer, Mike White. Unable to secure a meeting time, I was fortunate to get an email from another local writer from WesternPAFootball's, Josh aka Funk. Very helpful and supportive, he sent me some great information about the two programs. Despite the obvious info like Dan Marino's attendance at Central Catholic, I was completely unaware of USC's athletic director Ted Peterson, being a former Pittsburgh Steeler. Funk and I spoke on the phone for about twenty minutes later in the evening. Very aware of the local football scene, he gave me the scoop on all of the premier football teams in the region. He agreed we had chosen a great game to cover. While I was making calls, Karl began editing the 5 days 2 Friday video.

Tuesday 9.16 - Adam & Karl
Similar to Monday, the day began with phone calls and emails. The site president of WesternPAfootball.net, Jeremy Varner, responded to an email I sent out yesterday. Despite essentially being competition for MaxPreps, he was eager to help us out. A few hours later he gave me a call informing me their senior writer would be contacting me tomorrow. While I continued talking to local media outlets, Karl made sure all of our equipment was ready for Central Catholics practice. In the heart of Pittsburgh and once again relying on my handy GPS, we ventured to Central Catholic. Upon our arrival, Karl and I were surprised to see they were practicing on a small turf field in the back of the schools parking lot. Despite the small area to work with, they looked as good as USC as they went through their plays. We then had the privilege to interview head coach Terry Totten. A good guy, after the interview he asked how his team looked in comparison to USC. Karl and I both agreed they looked pretty good. Back at the hotel I continued sending out emails while Karl edited our preview video for the big game.

Monday 9.15 - Brady & Nick
Last week in Hoover, AL was incredible and we will definitely miss all the great people we met there. The atmosphere at the game was incredible, as it seemed more like a college game at Regions Park. All the fanfare that took place at Hoover on game day was something to behold. I guess what we saw on Two-A-Days was not just for the cameras. They are serious about their football!! Coach Niblett truly has a special program down there and we think that they have a bright future ahead of them. Camden County was very impressive and we would love to see a matchup between them and Colerain, OH. Camden County took advantage of many Hoover miscues in the game and cruised to a 44-9 victory.

We took a trip to the beautiful city of Miami, FL on Sunday. Yesterday we got to go out and meet Coach Rolle and the Bulls of Miami Northwestern and spend some time at practice. They have an athletic group of kids there, and the sense is that this should be a huge matchup Friday night at Traz Powell Stadium in Miami. Yesterday was "Blue Monday" for the Bulls, which basically means......they condition really hard at the end of practice. The Booker T. Washington - Miami Northwestern matchup has been going on since the 50's!! We are going to see Coach Tillman and the Tornadoes today. The defending 4A (Booker) and 6A (Northwestern) state champions of Florida facing off Friday night. Should be great!

Monday 9.15 - Adam & Karl
The first part of the day was spent doing research as we attempted to dig up some information on Central Catholic and Upper Saint Clair. After coming across a number of great articles, it was evident why we were covering these two teams. I sent out a number of emails and made a few calls, eventually getting in touch with the head coach of the USC team, Coach Jim Render. Accepted in the Pennsylvania High School Sports Hall of Fame in 1998, Render was certainly tough on me so I couldn't imagine what it would be like playing for him. With an old fashion football demeanor, he reminded me of a coach in Varsity Blues or Friday Night Lights, giving us the approval to visit their practice later in the day. Using my GPS, we eventually arrive in one of the more affluent towns in the area. A huge stadium especially at the high school level, the team was on the field in separate groups doing drills. Based on the intense two minutes we were there, it was clear Coach Render was no joke. He confirmed this after we interviewed him towards the end of practice. Only giving us short, one-word answers, Karl tried to ease the situation by asking who is going to eat the most pasta during the team dinner later in the week. He simply responded, the lineman.

Saturday 9.13 - Adam & Karl
Well after finishing editing the 5D2F at 7:30 this morning I finally went to sleep for a few hours until Adam locked himself out of his room and woke me up. What a game last night. So many incredible stories with the people of these towns, it should have local feature news reporters drooling at the prospects of great reports. I was fortunate enough last night to meet the woman in charge of the concessions at West "A" and the amount of work she does for a high school concession stand is incredible. I had some excellent Perogies after the game. I'm still upset I didnt have a chance to get any "walkin tacos" they dont just make Nachose here, they call 'em "walkin tacos" I loved the idea. Itsthe chips, real shredded cheese some ground beef, lettuce and tomato with salsa and sour cream. Where else can you get Nacho's, I mean WALKIN TACOS like that at a high school game??? Oh and the game... well West A won 26-14. Be sure to catch those highlites soon as there was a 50 yard Field Goal and a couple kids got up lookin out their ear whole thanks to #44 on West A. We'll report more Monday, gotta watch my Buckeyes blow up USC tonight even if we don't got the Beanie Man.

Friday 9.12 - Brady & Nick
It's game day here in Hoover and everyone is buzzing! The Camden County team rolled into a beautiful YMCA campground just outside of Hoover yesterday around 3:30. We got to meet up with coach Herron, and his team as they practiced on a beat up field that sits on the campground. It was like something out of a movie watching the Wildcats practice somewhere in the middle of the forests of Alabama. The air was thick and the kids were trying to work off an 8 hour bus ride. Camden County definitely has an athletic group of kids, and I would have to say that they are bigger in size than the Hoover team. They stayed there last night and will be heading over to Regions park around 3:00 this afternoon. We are about to head over to campus to attend the Hoover team dinner and the pep rally at 3:00 which sounds like it will be quite the show of spirit. I was shocked as a few of the Camden County team managers told us that there would be lots of Camden County fans at the game. Keep in mind we are about 8 hours away from their hometown of Kingsland, Georgia. Should be a great night!

Friday 9.12 - Adam & Karl
ITS GAMEDAY!! Finally here and we are pumped. Not sure who I am pulling for in this one. Moon is the underdog with great kids but Coach Palko and the people at West A were tremendous as well. Ok time to get over to the field as a long night of shooting and editing is ahead of us. We'll recap the game tomorrow. Thursday 9.11 - Adam & Karl
Firstly on the anniversary of 9/11 we'd like to remember all those who felt the loss or were impacted by this day. On this day we headed to the Team Dinner for Moon first. These are truly some great kids and we really enjoyed being around them. All of them were fnny outgoing and having a great time at dinner. A couple of them even got into an argument on who could eat more bowls of pasta and the smaller kid seemed to prevail but not by much, 4 bowls to 3 1/2. Over at West "A" as its called around here, when we arrived they were just setting up movie night in the library for members of the team. This was the idea of Coach Palko when he took over the program 1994. For those who had homework there were multiple study groups set up around the library. While this was going on inside out side some mothers of the players were lambasting the campus with signs of encouragement everywhere. From a thousand little flags along the road entrance to at a least 30 different giant signs along the way to the field. The mothers were very friendly, be sure to catch them on the 5D2F recap. Wednesday 9.10 - Adam & Karl
Another day back to Moon's practice. Coach Capuano let me get as close to the action of practice and I think we could have some good audio here as he was pretty funny during the offensive plays today. They were going over their key sets for this weekends game and at one point the offensive coordinator was taking forever in a huddle. Coach Cap quirked that Coach Smiley must of been drawing lines in the dirt. A fairly loose practice but I think the players know what to do. Also the Quarterback Ryan Falbo informed us that he had set up a dinner for the starters and a few others at a local family italian restaurant for thursday night. Tomorrow is going to be a busy day as both schools have events on Thurs night but we'll see if we can be in two places at once. Tuesday 9.9 - Brady & Nick
Today, we had a chance to catch up on some business (and sleep). We met up with a local sports anchor for the ABC affiliate here in town, Jeff Speegle. Jeff was kind enough to meet up with us at a local deli to talk about the game, Hoover High, and Birmingham football. Jeff seemed to be very impressed by the program that the first year Coach Niblett was putting together after the departure of Coach Probst, which didn't seem to be the best of endings. He spoke on how Coach Niblett was really teaching these kids the meaning of respect and discipline, not only in Football but in their lives. He is very founded in his faith as a Christian man and seems to have had an incredible impact on these kids already, amongst some doubt in the community that he can keep Hoover Football at the top of Alabama 6A football. The expectations are very high here. It sounds like Coach Niblett is finding a great balance and for the most part, he is very respected. Tomorrow, we are going to meet up with the NIKE team at Hoover, as they are doing all kinds of stuff for the school. We hope to capture all the work they will be doing for Hoover High in the coming days which you will be able to see in our Nike 5 Days 2 Friday tour page!!

Tuesday 9.9 - Adam & Karl
Well Coach Palko sure was an great guy to meet. West Allegheny High is under abit of construction but the football field is top notch. Palko has the admiration and respect of his players which is something extremely hard to achieve. Through talking to Coach Palko we leaarned that one of the players mothers is really ambitious and basically is the spirit leader for the high school. She makes signs and decorates the road that leads to the school before every game. We are hoping to catch up with her on Thursday night. Monday 9.8 - Brady & Nick
Wow what a busy day! After a great continental breakfast here at the Residence Inn, we headed out to Hoover to meet up with the AD Myra Miles and the staff in the athletic department. After ironing out some details, we got to meet Coach Niblett (Josh) and his brother....well, Coach Niblett (Tad) who is the offensive coordinator. They were more than helpful in showing us the school. Talk about great facilities, this place is amazing!!! Goodness, they look like something you would see at a nice college. We found out the game is being played at a AA Baseball field, Regions Park, which is close by campus and home to the Birmingham Barons. They are transforming that place into a football field for the game friday night. Apparently they are expecting a huge crowd and their "small" facilities won't be able to handle everyone. Nick and I spent some quality time at practice filming the kids and learning about the team. You can tell Coach Niblett has these guys on a great program. They are all working hard and hustling to each drill. Coach Niblett took a moment to fill us in on his thoughts about his team and the game coming up friday night. Its going to be great.

Monday 9.8 - Adam & Karl
After resting up from our flights on Sunday evening, we are ready to go. I woke up made a few phone calls setting up our first meetings with the coaches at Moon Area High School for later in the day. Coach Capuano seems like a great guy and even though his team has struggled early in this season is more than happy to meet with us. Coach Palko of West Allegheny High School offered us access to whatever we needed with his boys and seems more than accomodating. We will get to see his squad tomorrow. Coming from Boston we quickly had to learn the area and Adam was smart enough to bring a GPS which really helped us out here in the hills outside of Pittsburgh.

Sunday 9.7 - Brady & Nick
We touched down in Birmingham around 6 o'clock tonight and man is the air thick down here in Birmingham, Alabama!! What an incredible place. We were shocked to see the hills surrounding the city as i was picturing a flat "marshy" type land, like where Bubba lives in Forrest Gump. We spend the night getting used to the air here, and getting caught up on the latest in Hoover Football. Hoover High sits about 15 minutes south of Birmingham and we plan to make a trip there tomorrow to meet up with coach Niblett and his Buccaneers. We have some ideas what the school looks like from the "2adays show" and are really looking forward to getting out to the campus tomorrow.

"I want to thank MaxPreps and Nike for allowing the Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles communities to be featured on the Nike 5D2F Road Tour. Nick and Brady were such professionals and their coverage of the week and game was simply outstanding. Thanks also to Nike for showing how much they care about the education of student-atheltes in America."
- Javier Cid (Roosevelt - Coach)

"I played in the rivalry contest known as the Garfield/Roosevelt, or Roosevelt/Garfield game, (depending on where you went to school), in 1969 & 1970. As some have indicated, it can become a defining point in the life of a young man. The rivalry, sometimes heated, has always brought out the best in the communities, (Boyle Heights & East Los Angeles), and leaves a lasting impression to anyone NOT familiar with the 'Classic'. In 1972, respective school football Coaches Vic Loya, (GHS), & Al Chavez (RHS), introduced the name the event carries today, 'The East Los Angeles Classic.' For all the previous year's contests the game was know only to both schools as the 'Homecoming Game' The new name not only gave the event a new beginning, it also brought the contest out of the community and provided a symbolic beacon to high school football fans in Southern California as well as nationwide. Alumni from both schools find their way back each year, traveling a few blocks to a few thousand miles, to support their team to victory. I am not just proud to have participated, but honored to have followed a tradition and moved that tradition towards a new generation of high school football players. I am proud of the determination and dedication the young men from both schools exhibit on this night, during their complete football seasons and as a benchmark for their responsibility know as manhood. Thank You, MaxPreps for sharing the pride of our celebration with the nation. GO, CLASSIC!"
- Eddie Villa (Garfield - Coach)

"It was all good... it's just that we lost - but it don't matter; just come back next year!"
- Armando Perez (Roosevelt - Player)

"Thank you so much Nike and MaxPreps for everything y'all did for us the week of our big game. We are still wearing the jerseys - thank you so much."
- Justin Viger (Salmen - Player)

"I am an alumnus for Roosevelt High and we won back to back city champs in '84 and '85. The games are so exciting, anyone can win it - toss records out the window. I believe it is one of the best and greatest HIGH SCHOOL RIVALRIES in the Nation. I appriciate your time and documentary to this game - you guys are doing a great job. Go ROUGH RIDERS! 'Don't Flinch, Don't Foul, Hit The Line Hard.' Rider Pride for Life - keep the dream alive and thrive."
- William Garcia (Roosevelt - Player)

"I want to thank Maxpreps and Nike for providing such an informative vehicle to showcase great High School Rivalries. I think Brady & Nick have to look back on this season with a sense of connection with each communtiy that they reported on. As a former player and coach, this game will always be part of my heart. I was fortunate to have had Mike Garrett (Current AD-USC) Heisman Trophy Winner, NFL Player- KC Chiefs and of course, Roosevelt Rough Rider, speak to our team at a pre-game when I coached. He mentioned that of all the big games that he played in -Super Bowl, Rose Bowl and the Roosevelt-Garfield- the biggest and most memorable was this great rivalry; nothing came close for the emotional connection. To play for your school and community brings a pride that no one can measure. In my travels around the country, I've had the opportunity to meet fellow Rough Riders and Bulldogs. No matter what era they participated, from the 50's to current time. We are all connected by this great event and East Los Angeles. Thanks again for sharing this with the MaxPreps world. 'ROUGH RIDER 4 LIFE'!!!"
- Lance 'Doc' Holliday (Roosevelt High - Former Coach)

"Wow! Thanks MaxPreps & Nike! The East L.A. Classic truly is a classic experience. The classic divides families for one day and provides bragging rights for the rest of the year. The lines have been drawn the community is ready for another classic experience. Simply put "The Classic" is like a box of chocolates you never know what your goona get. Go Bulldogs!"
- Alfred Ruiz (Garfield - Player)

"Thanks To Nike and MaxPreps for coming out and making this Civil War game one I will never forget. I had so much fun and won't forget the last time I play the Indians. Thanks for coming out to Toms River and thanks for watching us beat TRS. Evangelos Regas #79 OT Capt"
- Evangelos Regas (Toms River North - Player)

"I just wanted to thank MaxPreps & Nike for coming to our Civil War game. Having MaxPreps & Nike in Toms River definitely added much more excitement to the atmosphere. Of course, we (Toms River North) came out on the winning end with a score of 20-6. Thanks again. Anthony Lacher #2 Cornerback"
- Anthony Lacher (Toms River North - Player)

"I am glad Nike is here to show the whole nation how badly South will get hammered Friday night. As if we weren't looking forward to crushing them, you guys give us another reason to give them the beating of the decade."
- (Toms River North - Player)

"If you ain't from the south of Mississipp you should come see some real good football teams. The rivals are so heated do here that they have to have police everywhere. Like when we play our rivals West Jones Mustangs."
- Arkeem Arrington (Wayne County War Eagles - Player)

"The kids are all excited that MaxPreps & Nike are here in Toms River to witness one of the State's greatest Rivals: 'The Civil War' between Toms River North & Toms River South. Welcome and Enjoy The Game."

- Robby Gassaway (Dorsey High School - Player)

- Marcus Porter (Dorsey High School - Player)

I would also like to say that what you guys are doing is not just a job, it's a life-changer. Meaning you guys come to all these programs and show that you care and understand what we go through. Thank you, Dorsey High, DE #12, Joshua Otomewo"
- Joshua Otomewo (Dorsey High School - Player)

"This years Warrior football team has energized the entire town of South Lake Tahoe and their story is like a fairytale. They started by breaking a 26 game Losing streak! Now they are in the state play-offs for the first time in many years. Their game average is 41 points with three shut-outs 42-0, 47-0 & 49-0 (an all time school record for any sport!) plus they've shattered many other school records this season. We started the season by having lights installed for the first time ever, bringing us into the "Friday Night" high football arena. The entire town loves it and has supported the team like no other. The channel 2 station in Reno did an entire story about the new lights, the fans great support and the team's awesome season. We are not the biggest school around but I think their story is great and I know they would love your support. Thank for your Time, Bob Allen / A very proud dad"
- Bob Allen (George Whittell High - Coach)

"This battle is between two schools less than five miles apart. Santa Barbara high school, led by state passing leader John Uribe and Oregon State-bound wide-receiver Roberto Nelson, lead the Dons against hated rival San Marcos Royals. This year's game is the 49th battle between the two schools and the series is almost tied. There are many interesting stories in this game that features two coaches the went to the rivals schools but who now coach for the opposite school. This match-up is the equivalent of USC vs UCLA of Santa Barbara county."
- Gabe Cardenas (San Marcos - Coach)

"Having Nike & MaxPreps at the school last week was amazing! I'm one of the 'Village Idiots' here at the school and it made it so much better to have a major worldwide company come to see how we play football. Thanks a lot guys!"
- Ian McCune (Massillon Washington - Player)

"Thank you to MaxPreps and Nike for providing these young men to display there talents on the national stage. For some of these student athletes this will be there only chance to be able to display there abilities to a nationwide audience. As a parent to one of the senior athletes, I am honored to have my son a part of such an opportunity, to play the sport that he loves and to do it with thousands across the nation watching. MaxPreps and Nike are giving these young men an opportunity to be seen by college coaches and recruiters not just locally, but nationally. I think I can speak on behalf of many of the parents both at Crenshaw and Dorsey when I say thank you. Keep up the great work and support of the sport of High School Football. See you at the game."
- Kevin Moore (Dorsey Dons)

"My compliments to MaxPreps and to Nike for an outstanding week. From product to professionalism, you could not have asked for more. Everyone responsible made the players feel special, and this recognition to me is a life-long memory. I commend the program and I am proud to be affiliated with Nike and MaxPreps. Don't ever hesitate to call on me if I can help in any way. Keep up the great work and know that this old coach loves what you are doing for high school football. Go Monarchs!"
- Coach Bruce (Mater Dei High School)

"This experince is going to be great. We play smash-mouth football here at the big D. We will win this game no matter what and show Crenshaw what a cougar hunter is. Welcome to the TERREDOME!!!"
- Manuel Morales (Dorsey - Player)

"South (Wheaton) vs. North is a bigger rivalry than Coke vs. Pepsi, Apple vs. Microsoft, Good vs. Evil. When we heard that Nike was coming, it made our rivalry 100x bigger. I thank you guys for coming, it made a good game even better. -Tiger's #1 Fan"
- Greg Hoctor (Wheaton Warrenville South - Player)

"My 5 Days 2 Friday is a hard week no matter who we play. We grind hard even if our opponents are 0-6. We play like there is no tomorrow. The Leflore County Tigers of Itta Bena Mississppi has a saying: 'WE MUST PROTECT T-HOUSE'!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
- Johnathan Hawkins (Leflore County High School - Player)

"Thanks so much for showing teams around the whole United States. It is cool for student athletes to be able to see the teams, fields and excitement of fans that are around the nation. You guys should come out to the football-crazy town of Dillsburg, PA. The experience is something you won't forget and the football is good, hard-nosed 3A football."
- Jordan Miller (Northern York, PA)

"TR South vs TR North....civil war, take no prisoners! Both teams should head into the match up on winning streaks - these two schools know each other very well but that doesn't mean they like each other! Best rivalry in the state, hands down... the river will run red (or should I say maroon) when the Indians recapture their hold on the rivalry! Skin 'em Indians! We are TR."
- Dez Richards (Coach - TR South)

"Please come to Mt. Carmel, PA to do a story. The region is crazy for HS football. The Red Tornadoes will play rival Southern Columbia on Oct. 24th. the crowd should approach 10,000 in rural eastern PA. Both are undefeated and ranked in top 10 in state polls. Mt. Carmel is 1st in PA all time wins and 5th in the nation. They have also won 5 state titles in class AA. The Red Tornadoes were recently featured on ESPNrise.com. Southern Columbia won 6 consecutive class A state titles from 2002 - 2006. The game featuring 2 of the most storied and dominant PA small school teams is already being televised statewide on the Pennsylvania Cable Network, but we would love to have a national audience as well. Thanks!"
- #1 Fan (Mt. Carmel Area)

"Monday, there is a j.v. game so we get in do mental work then condition, after that watch game film from the before friday or on our upcoming opponent
Tuesday, everybody is back time for hitting and full-out practice, either an offense or defense day maybe both
Wednesday, about the same as tuesday's practice, less contact, but still 100% speed and quickness
Thursday, the best of em' all, we get in mental stuff off. and def. and all special teams, NO CONDITIONING, then what makes it the best...PASTA NIGHT!!! o ya! then home and get a good night sleep
Friday, go all day thinking about the first play of the game just wanting to get school over with...when school finally gets out, get something to eat cause school lunch just doesnt cut it...then get on bus and listen to music to get u pumped up...get heads straight and get dressed....coach fire's u you up...special teams stretch go back in take our minute before the game then back out on the field....get name announced just an indicator of the game finally starting...then the whistle blows and off we go, so far winning every game, so go off field with heads held high.
Saturday, get everything healed up, ice your bumps and bruises, rest up for another good week of FOOTBALL!!!
Sunday, go up to the field and run or throw the ball around with some of the teammates just something to keep you in shape for the upcoming week of dreading practice but all worth it when you lay your first hit or score a td on friday nights under the lights and crowd screaming GO HORNETS...gives me the chills!!!!
Thats a week at Penney High Hamilton, MO with the varsity football team of 2008!!!"
- Brandon Hemry (Penney High - Hamilton, MO)

I can only say that NIKE is awesome to work with! I know the kids that I've talked to appreciated the video, t-shirts, Shoe design contest and all the other perks. I think it also makes them acutely aware of what our program means, not only to our school, but the reputation that comes from the hard work and success they put in when folks like NIKE notice."
